I hope that people are not expecting a modified version of Breaking Bad.  I am really looking forward to this, and quite honestly, the character of Saul and how he came to be is going to be a great story...I am just not looking forward to the morans who think that this should be BB 2.0

I would be shocked if the internet doesn't erupt in fury after the first episode for not being Breaking Bad.

I have 5 episodes left of BB.

While up till now I have enjoyed it, watching this all go nuclear is by far the best part of the series so far. Definetly a top 10 show ever for me.

Assuming they didn't goof the ending somehow.

If you watch the ending and believe it to be just the fevered fantasies of a madman then it works just fine.

Some think the last five minutes are over the top to the point of implausibility.

It is, but for me, it's none more so than the earlier bit with magnetized van or Gus Fring straightening his tie after a third of his head was blown off, so I had no problem going with it.

You need to get better at ignoring what Internet people think. That's my ironic advice to you.

I could handle the part where Walt blackmailed Santa Claus into distributing his product worldwide on Christmas Eve but when the alien mothership landed and Tuco and Badger came out holding hands it was a bit too much for me.

I think the nude Jello fight between Sky and Marie made up for it, but the idea that Jr. discovered a cure for cerebral palsy made from cereal milk was beyond the pale.

I loved BB. I binged on all seasons via Netflix before the final six episodes were aired.

And then I watched every episode, then re-watched it over and over during the following week.

I loved the show. It was fascinating.

And I'll gladly support this one. I don't expect alot. But unlike the corporate networks that spinoff shows, I believe this one can have some merit.

I thought Odenkirk was beyond brilliant in his portrayal of the alternate "Michael Scott" during his cameo on "The Office". I was pissed that they couldn't have spun that story line off more.

My hope is that, somehow, Skinny Pete and Badger make their way into this prequel. How else would Jesse have know to look for a "Criminal" lawyer?

I don't know why one would expect that; I would think they'd make this more of a dark comedy. Saul was one of the only bits of levity in BB.

Breaking Bad was a dark comedy.

I expect the new series to be more of the same, but perhaps more obvious. It would be nice if they follow the suggestion that was made here a while back to make it an anthology of stories, more about his various (known and unknown to us) clients, with his peripheral story told as a longer arc.

The series ends with Tommy Westphall shaking a snow globe depicting New Mexico. The snowflakes are a familiar shade of blue...

That's what I'm hoping for. Showing how he went from being a criminal lawyer to being a *criminal* lawyer, with a new client every week, and a few that become very important.

Were we watching the same show? Because the show I watched involved Walt struggling with a magnetized bomb that he accidentally got stuck to an elevator door in a hospital.

So what if someone thinks it's an ad for a real attorney and they call the number and leave a message expecting someone will get back to them? Way to be cruel to people who are in need of help just because they're not familiar with every bit of pop culture. I've never seen Breaking Bad but I know what Better Call Saul is (mainly because of the countless headlines about it on Fark), but the guy in the ad isn't even named Saul! I would completely have thought that it was a real attorney.

There is no shortage of attorneys in America. No one is hanging on a call for someone they haven't even hired.

the entire show was over the top.  it was a moral tale.  it was an amazing show, but if you can't suspend disbelief, you can't watch tv, or movies, or ever read a book.
