It wouldn't surprise me if JJ is leaking this stuff. The hand and lightsaber rumor is highly unlikely, and this one reeks of fake for fakes sake.

I don't buy it. She may well be a Sith, but I don't think Boyega is a Stormie, that she is his commanding officer hunting him down, or that Skywalker's hand somehow ended up some place other than the inside of Bespin. Okay, that last part of the sentence sounds weird.

I'm no GoT expert, but I'm given to understand that her Brienne is significantly cuter than the notably un-cute character in the books.  They just couldn't bring themselves to cast someone who wasn't simply "slightly less conventionally attractive".

Canonically it doesn't. Of course the way they swing it in the movies means the prop does. None of the twirling they do would work with the center of gravity in the handle.

Meh you just hand wave it away with it being done via the force. The weight issue is one of the formerly canonical but now no longer canonical reasons why it was predominantly force users that used them in the first place. Because there was no weight in the blade non-force users couldn't handle them even remotely effectively.

Of course even within the EU that reason wasn't 100% since there were instances of non-force users who wielded a lightsaber at least semi-effectively.

Here's where you get into non-movie stuff, so whether it is canon or not is debatable.  The blade color is based on the type of crystal used.  Changing the crystal isn't hard.  Getting a crystal might be.  I don't know if they sell light saber crystals at the Coruscant equivalent of Wal-Mart, but Palpy probably could have gotten him one.  The actual construction would just be removing the existing crystal and replacing it with a red one.

Don't Sith use mainly synthetic crystals? Has to do with their control issues and such. Maybe he wanted Vader to make his own as part of the process of deciding to be Sith.

If we are going by movies only, Han uses Luke's saber on Hoth. Luke himself was not a Jedi till sometime between Empire and Jedi technically but I would count New Hope Luke using a saber as a non-Jedi using one. General Grievous  is one of the other non-Jedi/Sith. So who am I missing... I am guessing I missed 1, maybe 2, with this.

As I recall, Jedi gathered lightsaber crystals from a sacred mine on Illum, and that the natural crystals resulted in the varied lightsaber colors. Sith had to make do with crystals from another source, possibly synthetic, that always would emit a red blade.

Then there were those who would kill Jedi and collect their lightsabers as trophies, and thus might have them in several colors, like General Grievous did.

A recent convert to the Dark Side might still have a colorful lightsaber, but they tend to lose those things and the limbs holding them pretty rapidly.

//OK, I'm done exposing my nerdity today, as if just being here weren't enough.

Han in Empire, Vader in Jedi (on Endor).  Anakin in Sith (when he beheads the guy from LOTR), Grevious in Sith, Vader in Sith.

Bolded is the non-Sith using red.  The rest are non-jedi using blue/green.

This part of the conversation feels like it's going to be splitting some hairs VERY closely... but:

1. Anakin uses Dooku's red saber along with his own to execute him in EpIII

1. Han in Empire
2. Grievous in EpIII

How much of that was from Clone Wars, and how much of that was from the now-defunct EU? If the source was EU, they could just pick up their lightsabers from the local Hittori Hanzo outlet for all we know.
