A 551-pound former pharmacist, confined to 30 months of house arrest for his role in a massive South Florida pill mill ring, now wants his sentence reduced.
His argument: He's too heavy to leave home anyway, so house arrest is unnecessary.

Sounds more like the attorney needed some more billable hours.

2014-07-23 10:08:10 AM
The judge was pissed that he kept interrupting with an occasional "Woo!".

2014-07-23 11:23:58 AM
"Defendant was spared a prison sentence, not as a favor to him, but in order to spare the Bureau of Prisons the burden of having to care for him," the judge wrote.

...the judge turned the argument for sentence reduction around on itself. "If defendant's health and obesity 'effectively confines him to his home,' then continuation of that restriction will not adversely affect him," he ruled.

Apparently, he kept filling his own prescriptions for pizza.

Sounds like my former SIL.Her scam was being hired by a state gov then putting on 250+ pounds and getting a disability.  So very pleased she is no longer in the family.

He's a skinny guy imprisoned in a fat guy who's under house arrest. And married? That's really cruel and very unusual.

Except for hospital stays, religious ceremonies and his wedding to Judith Bartell, Goodman hasn't left home since his sentencing.

Couldn't she just find a nice serial killer like everyone else?

Goodman also wants to visit Cincinnati, Ohio...

Nice try douchebag, but that's where your argument falls apart - no one "wants" to visit Cincinnati, Ohio.

Look at those tiny little arms. imagine him flailing them uselessly in the air as he demands his wife continue to feed him and bathe him, each moment his voice growing shriller, his cries more desperate and useless and pointess.

/Alternately, he is a really fat t-rex with useless little claws!

That reminds me of watching a cooking show many years ago. I believe it was a brother of Paul Prudhomme with a restaurant in Mississippi who was cooking. I'm looked at him, looked at his arms, and thought to myself, "that man can't clap!"

Anyway, I don't know how the guy in TFA is even alive. I'm 41 and, granted, I am overweight (I gained back some weight recently due to stress with a new job, a move, etc.) but not obese and certainly not morbidly so. I even eat salads regularly. Anyway, I am now on farking blood pressure medication because I had a dizzy spell two weeks ago and ended up in the hospital with 205/124.

As a former and recovering fatty, all I can say is, damn bro! I mean I was fat (367lbs at my heaviest) but how does someone get that bad?

/Down to 220 lbs. from 367 lbs.
//25 more pound to reach my goal weight range. (Dietician's words, not mine.)
///Yes it took a long time, yes I can prove it, yes I'm much happier.

There's no way someone that big can wipe his own ass, and if so, there's no way it's being done competently.

What a burden on society. You know, with some people starving, maybe we should fine people his size and give the money to those who could use a sandwich or twenty.

How many years since he's seen his dick?

I would think his wife needs to build a retaining wall to find and wash the pathetic little worm.

"For Goodman, home confinement with electronic monitoring is both unnecessary and futile because his physical and medical condition effectively confines him to his home,"

and...

'Goodman, he said, cannot fit in a car or public bathrooms, and has an extreme fear of falling. "His fear is so overwhelming, he just stays home rather than venturing out," Page said. "Goodman spends most days in his bedroom in isolation."'

and then....

Goodman also wants to visit Cincinnati, Ohio, to bid farewell to friends and family

Stupid lawyer thinks court is stupid court.

As I live in cincinnati... Yup sounds about right. And people here are fat enough, don't need him to add to it.

Unless this guy has a couple of Operation Dumbo Drop-caliber transport helicopters at his disposal I'm just going to assume that the judge determined he wasn't a flight risk.

I was surprised that at his age he is still alive, but buried in the article it does say his doctor has given him six months to a year before he dies.
