Marcel's Agents of Shield hasn't been canceled yet? Has it gotten better since the first 3 episodes, or have fanboys just been keeping it afloat with denial?

Back in the day Xena was a big deal in Park Slope.  I used to go watch it at the Lesbo bar.

It was a fantastic confluence of many of my favorite things lesbians, beer, and ululating female warriors kicking ass and taking names.

The episodes generally improved as the season went on. The real turning point was the events that took place in Winter Soldier, but it was already getting better in the lead up.

Disney runs Marvel and ABC. They're not going to let it get canceled no matter what. I mean maybe if it got CW kind of numbers but it isn't.

Kind of both. There was a thread yesterday about shows getting great in Season 3. If AoS makes it three seasons, I suspect this will be the case here as well.

welcome to 2014

1) Agents of Shield is good now.
2) Ben Affleck as Batman is no longer 'outrageous' but now simply 'meh'.
3) Star Wars 7 has been down graded from 'cautious excitement' to 'sweaty nervousness'.

I once got to meet Lucy Lawless at a meet and greet once at a books a million many years ago; she's the biggest biatch I have ever met in my life; was more pissed off because I had no clue what show she did either. I actually did know who Kevin Sorbo was; he was a very nice guy even answered some questions (it was clear he knew I didn't watch the show but knew something about it). We actually spent more time talking about Trucks then anything else; sadly there were very FEW people there for book signings (Kevin had a Toyota Helix from New Zealand, actually bring it back home with him to the states).

Agents of shield got better, but the finale sucked major balls (aside from the fitzsimmons parts).  It's like they made the change half way through the season to be a bit more serious than complete camp, rode that for a while to great reviews, then decided, fark it back to basics and made the entire finale "witty" one liners and such poorly cut editing that was the real joke.

I'm supposed to believe nick fury is in the same room as the bad guys?  Ha, ya right.

And are they going to be using superheroes next season?  No?  Alright then.  I'm going to go enjoy Flash, Plastique, Killer Frost, Vibe, Firestorm, Gorilla Grodd, Atom, and Katana over here, and that's not even counting the Gotham and Constantine shows.

That's what I was thinking. Winter Soldier tied the series with the movies tighter and made both better. I think it was an experiment, and one that succeeded beyond what they thought could happen. I'm still backing the 'Skye is a Kree' theory, so with Guardians opening up the Marvel Universe to lots of aliens, S.W.O.R.D. would be an interesting move. And the main reason that Brand is more connected with X-Men is that she's boinking Hank McCoy.

The other option?

I'm hoping they use her almost death and the dissolution of SHIELD to reboot her personality a bit (or lot).
She was barely used in the episodes after her near death. And those were the best episodes.
Coincidence?

True dat. Or do a much better job with pacing the show to the movies. They should've just done a mid season hiatus and ran reruns from the beginning in the time slot instead of the piss poor pacing and random schedule.

But with AoS coming back in September, maybe they are lining stuff up to lead into A2 next May.

From Alan Sepinwall...

"The Flash" pilot features many familiar names from the comics, and Easter eggs hinting at even more. There's a brief reference to Gorilla Grodd, for instance, which the producers fought to keep in the final cut, even though they're not quite sure yet how to depict an intelligent super-ape on television.

"That Easter egg means the world to us," said Kreisberg. "As we were working on the pilot and trying to get it down to time, someone would suggest, 'We can save 10 seconds if you cut that,' and we were like, 'You can cut everything else.' 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' is out right now, and we're hoping they're doing the R&D for us."

I concur with this. It's had awesome moments. As a whole, it's alright. Wasn't happy with the finale, and the campiness of the one-liners. Or why Nick Fury even showed up except to just be there for the finale. But the characters are growing. Skye was toned down quite a bit after the winter soldier stuff. She's now part of the team rather than it's sole focus. Ward improved immensely once he was made a bad guy, which, I don't totally buy why he had any loyalty to Bill Paxton, who was nothing but a brainwashing dick to him, but he never seemed loyal to Hydra at all, just Bill Paxton.
