The Hyundai's burnin'
And you're yearnin'
To show off extinguishing skills you've been learnin'
Then it wants to roll and it's on the move
So don't just stand there, bust a move

Why didn't the calliope player break into the Benny Hill theme?

E-brake cables aren't fireproof. Guessing they left it in neutral (also guessing it was a manual, being not U.S.) and the e-brake cable let go. Was probably on more of an incline than it looked like.

Remote theory: Varying temperatures caused a fluctuation in the expansion/contraction of the metal brake parts, thereby causing them to release a couple of times... rear drum brakes, drum expands outwards.

Remoter theory: Elevated temperature actually caused some leftover fuel to ignite in the cylinders and propel the car forward, meaning it WAS in gear.

Here's my theory:

The idiot firefighters couldn't think of chocking the wheels and then took forever to begin using their equipment to PUT OUT THE FREAKING FIRE.

It's called a parking brake. Use it when you're going to light a compact car on fire.

Also, I like how the firetruck circled it a couple of times.Like they were sizing it up before attacking.

More Probable:  Car had old Ford throttle controller.

Well... they apparently couldn't find the damned car that was on fire and kept driving around in circles like Stevie Wonder... finally the screams narrowed down the immediate vicinity of need and they fingered they'd go ahead and stop to see what all the hubbub was about.
Once out, instead of trying to put out the fire, they thought they'd try pushing the car around.  And, finally, upon failing at this maneuver, too, they started breaking out some of the firefighting gear they happened to have with them and try to figure out what could spray where and do what.

/Altho not a good enough view to really see if there was damage, I am betting the vendor in the trailer right next to the car was extremely pissed

/the moran in charge of the burn 1. Didn't check to make sure the car was in park, or the brake was set and 2. Nobody chalked the wheels to make sure it wasn't going to roll.

Car in gear, battery charged and hooked up, fire shorted starter cable. Starter motor propelled car.

chalking the tires was the meter maids duty!

The car looks to be accelerating from a stop when it first moves.  It does not look like it is just rolling free down an incline.  Also, around 1:44, even though the car is stopped, you can see the front wheel turning.

Was someone too lazy to remove the gas tank and engine for the demo?  Would it be possible for the engine to still run after the fire had been blazing that long?  Or maybe the starter motor was to blame?  (Although at the very least, the battery should have been removed before the demo.)

And, by all means, move that armored vehicle OUT OF THE WAY OF THE BURNING CAR!  Letting a burning car roll free into a carnival is MUCH better than getting our equipment damaged!

I mostly agree but I think they were feeling the car to see if it was hot. That would mean that there was fire on the other side.
