I was shocked to find that my new pimp has an insurance plan which still denies coverage for pre-existing conditions, which is a violation of Obamacare, because they applied for some extension so they don't have to be compliant for two years.  Thanks, COBRA.

The problem with American health care is the same problem with American everything else.  They have never experienced anything except American health care.

If you ever have the good fortune to travel to Europe or Asia or... OK not not Africa, or India without a first class ticket and an appointment, it will open your eyes.

It's just very satisfying to see an ambitious policy agenda work well. Sure, it's not perfect, but Obamacare seems to be going about as well as any liberal could hope.

It's Universal Healthcare's foot in the door. That's what is important to me. It's a foundation that can only be built up so long as the GOP doesn't try sabotaging that very foundation (which they are trying to do but it seems they're getting the message, albeit slowly, that it's wasted effort).

The only way to build is up. And the only thing 'up' for there to build to is a Single Payer system.

Which we should have had to begin with. But it's the only destination they can legislate towards, especially since there are too many citizens who are benefitting from it now to get rid of entirely.

What's great about Obamacare is that it actually has a very natural, smooth path to single-payer. All you need to do is add a public option which is cheaper and covers more than private insurance. Over time, more and more people will use that public option, and eventually you reach a critical mass where you can basically just move everything over to single-payer without much disruption. Private insurance would never have to be banned or outlawed or anything - it would simply die on the vine.

Not saying this would be *politically* easy, but its logistically simple.

No he doesn't. The GOP is full of shiat. They have never repealed any entitlement program which wasn't purely for poor people. They won't touch SS or Medicare, and now they won't touch Obamacare. It won't happen.

Who is going to run the pubic option for the individual states?

What do you mean who is going to run it. The same people who 'run' Medicare. The government.

Funny enough, the countries that right-wing groups like the Heritage Foundation like to tout as the countries with the most "economic freedom" (Singapore and Hong Kong) both have universal healthcare.

Any liberal sees how Obamacare benefits nobody more than private insurance companies and other related for-profit healthcare industries.  Any liberal is disappointed by what we ended up with relative to single payer, considering how much political momentum Obama had coming off the '08 election.

I don't see that at all. Private insurers have to cover more and they refunded around $850 million in premiums for violating the 80/20 rule last year.

I experienced health care in West Memphis while on vacation 15-20 years ago. That was enough to make me really appreciate my own city.
