Hobby Lobby vs. Burwell, it's understandable that many on the right have decided it's the latter and are eager to start testing the limits of how much leverage the expansive new definition of "religious freedom" gives them to meddle with the private contraception choices of others.

Stopped reading right there.

2014-07-21 06:45:23 PM
Isn't the Family Planning Center a person whose rights supersede those of the mere flesh and blood? It sure worked that way for Hobby Lobby.

I smell trolling for a lawsuit.

I'm going to apply for a job as a bus driver and then tell them that I hate children and will refuse to pick any up.

She should get a job at Hobby Lobby.

Bottomless can of worms is bottomless. Thanks, Supreme Court!

That's like getting sued by a member of EmbezzlersAsscociate for not hiring them as an accountant.

I remember a story about a Jewish guy that took a position that only had Saturday hours, then sued saying he can't work on Saturdays. He won.

If she doesn't like the rules, she can just get a job somewhere else right? That's what we were told before...

2014-07-21 08:31:16 PM
I guess you could have hired her for counseling of people of a like mind as her, but I doubt they would be visiting that family planning center anyway

So is subby admitting that the entire point of "family planning" centers is just to pedal abortion?

Do nurses have to swear "do no harm" and all thar jazz like M.D.s? I can think of numerous situations that would conflict with her slut shaming, single mom hating.... er I mean, her "deeply held religious pro-life beliefs."

The fact that you can't find it anywhere is just proof of how pervasive and all powerful the conspiracy really is.

Anyway screw this shiathead and her ugly, ugly allies.  They wouldn't know Christ's love if it pulled the beam out of their eye and stuck it up their ass.

No, family planning centers have condoms, pills, etc, which are the not so secret next target among "pro-life" groups.

Birth control pills are now a form of abortion? You fail biology.

But the factual inaccuracy of Hellwege's claims may not be an issue here, since the lawsuit argues that Hellwege is a victim of religious discrimination

Factual inaccuracies? Religion? No time to make it to the fainting couch, this rug will do.

I remember a lawsuit a new earth christian filed against some university for not letting her into a Ph.D. program in evolutionary biology.  She had said in her letter that she wanted to do research to prove that evolution isn't real and the bible tells us all we need to know.

/that first sentence is atrocious... my bad

Correction, July 21, 2014: This post and its headline originally misidentified Sara Hellwege as a nurse. She is a nurse-midwife.

She's a coont.

No, that is just you thinking it is (not subby, btw). The so-called "Christian" nutjobs just seem to think that *anything* that prevents the birth of a child is abortion, including condoms and birth control pills. They think that a woman should either abstain from sex altogetrher, or immediately get married to the first man they see and pop out a dozen children for them.

You have no idea. The Illuminati is burying me under pages of bizarre EEOC complaints. I'm enjoying the one a christian woman filed against a jewish nursing home for wanting her to work on Sundays.

How so, unless hobby lobby workers are in a religion where all pregnancies are mandated to be aborted.

I'm going to apply at one of those Family Christian Bookstores and tell them that my beliefs oppose the commercialization of faith and I will not be able to sell any religiously themed items.  Then sue if that's a problem for them.

We do not swear an oath, but the tenets of the Hippocratic oath are part of our professional code of ethics, and registered nurses can be held liable for not practicing patient-centered care and acting as the patient's advocate but instead foisting their owns beliefs and agenda onto the patient.

This has already been looked at in court when those pharmacists were refusing to hand out the morning after pills.  They lost,  your religious views don't get to dictate what pills you'll hand out at your job that's all about handing out pills.

What is so sad about the correction is that this women has attained a minimum of a Masters degree to get to this point, yet she somehow managed to miss all the classes on how nurses are supposed to assist the patient to make life choices that are right for the patient, not the nurse!

If she cannot live by the religious beliefs of a corporate sponsor, then she is not protected by the Supreme Court decision.
Individuals do not have religious freedom: read the damn ruling.
