Not clear enough for Republicans.

Global warming is a hoax; the scientists faked the data. Furthermore, global warming, which is totally a hoax, stopped 17 years ago according to the scientist's data, which is now reliable. Also, it's a natural cycle that happens all the time.

Cover Of The 'State of the Climate in 2013' Report :

Super Typhoon Haiyan's deadly impact on the Philippines was a standout indicator of climate disruption in 2013.

I thought we weren't supposed to use single weather events in support of our position regarding AGW.

While the GOP is the biggest Fail of The 20th Century, using it as a whipping boy to fatten your "denier" population is also a fail.

Carbon dioxide is denser than nitrogen gas. Nitrogen makes up the majority of the amtosphere. As CO2 rates increase the overall atmospheric density will increase and will settle lower to the surface of the Earth. QED, the sky is falling.

JohnAnnArbor: No typhoons in the Philippines in the past?

ftfa:

"2013's record high sea level may have contributed to Super Typhoon Haiyan's devastating force. The storm, which made landfall on November 8, 2013, is the deadliest in Philippines history, with around 6,300 people killed and over 1,000 yet missing. Haiyan also left 4 million people homeless, and affected 16 million people overall."

"But 2013 saw a plateau in the cooling effect of cyclical "La Nina" conditions over the Pacific Ocean.  Scientists are now on watch for the start of "El Nino," the cyclical warming trend that could further intensify the rate of global temperature increases."

So a mild winter for this year then?  Sweet!

Yea, been to the Arctic a couple of times.

No. It doesn't cover that one.

Does it cover Mark Levin's moronic anti-science tirades: how banning DDT killed millions of people from maleria,  and how banning gas guzzling cars and using cafe standards resulted in thousands of more deaths from car crashes

Listen, don't believe the scientists if you want.

Listen to the insurance companies. They are paying out on extreme weather claims at much higher rates than they did in the past.

They have massive amounts of data that show that extreme weather patterns are on the rise.

Go look at insurance claims in the agricultural area....farmers are doing multiple claims a year for drought and flooding...

...sorry folks...that isn't a historical norm in so far as historical records go.

This text is now purple: Was there some point that increasing temperatures were causated with increasing frequency or strength of hurricanes? Because last I checked, the jury was still out on correlation.

Read up on the mathematical discipline of chaos theory which describes the behavior of dynamical systems such as the weather.

Note that the increase in global average surface temperature * specific heat of the surface * surface area of the planet = energy increase in the weather system

Understand what this increase in energy to a dynamic system causes.

I love the argument that somehow global warming is not happening so they changed it to climate change. These are two different things. Both are most certainly happening.

Yeah, I'm familiar with what the mathematical theory of buzzwords suggests will happen. (Numerical projections of truly chaotic systems don't lead to reliable suggestions.)

I'm also familiar with the idea that cyclones aren't caused by global average temperatures, the total surface area of the planet, or really the specific heat of the local surface, but that they are driven by complex interactions of temperature differences on both a large and small scale, and that there's no consistent argument whether increasing global temperatures are positive, negative, or indifferent to hurricane formation.

What I'm really looking for is some new empirical evidence that more or stronger hurricanes are happening. Because we haven't seen it yet.

If the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere bothers you so much, there are plenty of ways to remove it that don't involve human population control, or giving all our money to crystal energy con artists like Solyndra.

/but we won't do any of them
//because we want the power to make other people die without guilt
///or the power to print money without end
