Seems reasonable for a successful brand and publisher.

Greedy little jerk. He's been offered two fair deals in RFA, and both times held out for more. The arbitrator will rule heavily on the Avs' side, then, unless he's traded, we get to go through this one more time next summer until finally he hits UFA and some idiot gives him bank. No doubt O'Reilly is good. But him turning down his bridge contract and now thinking he's worth more than what Feaster forced on him is delusional. Maybe he'll earn that amount in a couple years. Maybe not. Either way, he's not worth it now.

Frankly, I'm rooting for the guy to be injured and out of hockey before he gets to UFA. Just so long as it's on someone else's roster, of course.

A player wanting to be paid well is not a "greedy little guy", nor is a team trying to cut his pay as much as is allowed under the CBA inherently noble.  If he'd be able to get more as a UFA, then he's clearly good enough to earn it, and no reason not to seek it now.

Simply put: he's not the Avs best player. He's not in the top three. Perhaps the top five since Stasny left, but he's asking to be paid more than Duchene? No. Sakic knows what he's doing.

I certainly cannot explain it; even with competition from Manning and Apress, I'm sure O'Reilly is worth far more than 6.7 million.

Then fark you, just on general principle.

Well, usually an RFA gets less than he would as an UFA, but the Avs are dealing like they can't wait to get rid of him.  Giving him the minimum possible contract offer before arbitration? I know they have depth at center but they're just asking for a situation like Kane's in Edmonton.

// ROR signed at 6.5 AAV for, say, Green + Brouwer/Laich + somethin'? Avs need defense, and Caps need centers...

Kane in Winnipeg...

As far as that trade goes, I'm torn.  On the one hand, I like that deal because Green is junk and Colorado won't get any real help defensively out of that trade.  On the other hand, Iginla signed in Colorado, so I am willing to hold my nose on a team associated with Pat Roy in the hopes that Iggy can get that Cup. So I don't really want that trade to happen either.

Green's Corsi has been above the team's consistently, even if he's had trouble staying healthy.  He's due for a rebound, whether in DC or elsewhere.  ROR is about the only true 2C who looks like he'd even be possibly on the market, and I don't think the Caps would trade for anything else, their wing/defense/goalie situation looks solid.  And the Avs overachieved a lot last year given their defense - without shoring it up, I don't think they make the playoffs - Varlamov isn't that consistent, even if he's used to playing behind shiatshow defensive teams.

// and yeah, Kane in Peg, I always get those two confused for some reason

The KronkeMarts are shiat bags.  He deserves more of the billions they inherited more than lose dicks.  He should get $30 Billion in arbitration.
