Drinking herbal tea, lemon and honey
Blanket 'cross the knees, trying not to wheeze
Sudafed, I buy; each pill a dollar ninety-nine
can't get generics, 'cause of meth addicts

Sneeze while I'm coughing,
then suck on a lozenge
I slam back some of my

Good for Rob Zombie.  I concur. I saw White Zombie and Filter in 1995 and yes Rob Zombie, you do sound like shiat.

Actually I think the Cure holds that title. I saw them twice, and both times they were apathetic, sloppy, and finished in half an hour.

I've said this for years.  Then I saw Zombie on That Metal Show and he said he never, ever played anybody else's music.  And my answer was...that's because you can't.

But he's made it in the industry and as I've said many times, I always pay proper respect to those who've done it even if I don't like their product.  (not that I dislike WZ, it's more indifference)

/the chick they had on bass was pretty good though

I don't know why the hating.  I've seen him a couple times over the years on accident (like he was playing at a show I went for to see other bands) and he always gets the crowd into it and its a good time.

And as for the megadeth poster.  you're nuts.  Seen em many times over the last 15 years, not a bad show.  No filler on his sets, just song after song.  The tour a couple years ago when he played rust in peace front to back was amazing.

Yes, his voice isn't as good as it was 20 years ago but he still nails every solo and surrounds himself with people talented enough to play those songs.

So much of this.  Funny thing is, it was just last summer that I saw Megadeth and Rob Zombie together, so I could get what this thread must consider the shiattiest concert ever.  Yes, I agree that he runs around way too much on stage for a 50ish guy trying to sing, but every time I've seen him, his stage show has been highly entertaining.  As for Megadeth, I was surprised at how well Dave's voice has held up over the years...it's lost some, but so does everyone's.  The guitar work was still  solid, though.

I feel his pain. I just did my first gig Friday night- nervous as hell during the first set and my voice suffered. But during the second set I said fark it and rocked out and my voice improved.
Some days are just bad voice days- nothing you can do about it.

One of the times I saw The Cure perform, Robert Smith had a severe throat problem. He soldiered on, singing as best and as much as he could. They filled in with a lot of their instrumental tracks and extended instrument solos, and sometimes he'd sing a few lines and then point the mic at the audience. They did their entire show, plus another 30-minute encore, all the time Robert was pushing himself and apologizing for not being at 100%, and still the audience had a GREAT time. It was an excellent show.

So Rob Zombie is more of a pussy than Robert Smith, if you think about it.

/Not that Robert Smith is a pussy
//Nor do I intend to offend any womyn by using "pussy" as a derogatory term. Considering how much most straight men love female organs, you'd think it would be a compliment instead of an insult.
///Logically, "he's a pussy" should mean "he's a wonderful place to be." or something similar.

I'd wager he's doing better than say, Geddy Lee.  I never considered Dave's vocal style to be overly melodic (for lack of a better descriptive term)...not ragging him or anything, I've always considered him a guitarist first and vocalist somewhere down the list.  It's not like he has to hit extreme high note after high note like Geddy...and in the last clip I saw of a live show from Rush, Geddy was NOT hitting those notes.

Cure were like the goth Replacements.   Their quality of show was on a correlation spectrum as to how shiat faced drunk they were.   One of the more under the radar hard living bands, exasperated by the fact that Robert Smith also tries to drink himself out of stagefright/shyness.    Smith has often claimed to be "sick" when he was just too farked up to play and sing at the same time, although I can't say that was specifically the case in your example.

The first time I saw White Zombie was back in the early 90's before La Sexorcisto hit it big on Beavis And Butthead. They did a good show, lots of energy and all that. Afterwards, Rob sat on the edge of the stage and signed autographs for anyone and everyone. My friends and I went out back because we had parked next to their tour bus, and pounded down brews with J and their drummer. We got autographs from both, then my buddy Mike and I got Sean Yseult's autograph as she tried to sneak along the side of the bus with her boyfriend blocking her from sight.

About 90 minutes later, Rob showed up, signed even more autographs, handed out TONS of SWAG, drank some beer with us, then apologized that they really needed to get on the bus and leave. He spent at least 45 minutes posing for pictures, signing autographs and handing stuff out, beyond the 90 minutes he'd already spent on stage. He was super cool and down to earth, all about giving the fans a great time and taking his own personal time to make sure they got their autographs and such.

Seems fame and fortune went to his head just a little bit. Then again, he gets to bang Sherry Moon whenever the mood strikes, so there's that.

Yeah, I'd probably leave early to go bang that, too.

I saw them at the EMP opening in Seattle.  That was probably 2001 or so.  They were ok from what I recall.  I do remember the crowd booing when they started playing the airplane song.  The singer stopped and said something along the lines of "why are you booing, this is our first #1 hit".  He also took a few minutes to explain that Hey Man Nice Shot was written a year or so before Cobain offed himself.

And as to the thread in general.  I feel bad for someone who's really sick with a job like that, unless they're some shiat-stain that's always cancelling.  When you're sick you're sick and there's nothing you can do about it.  Almost all of us have called in sick at one time or another.

Filter was one of my favorite bands growing up. I didn't get to see the original lineup but when Richard Patrick got sober, his voice got amazing. Army of Anyone had one of my top 10 concerts of all time, it was fantastically underrated and underpromoted.

The newer albums....eh....40% amazing songs, the rest are just....meh.

Live now these days they're usually great shows. The lineup with Phil Buckman on bass was badass, same with Mitchell Marlow and John Spiker.

The man himself, I've met him and talked with him at length many times over the years, he is amazingly nice and very humble. Everyone I've ever talked to in supporting acts have nothing but great things to say about him and his work ethic. He's a bit of a space cadet at times, and if you want a laugh at some die-hard President-humping anti-gun athiest rhetoric, check out his facebook page.

I just wish they'd stop playing the same farking setlist year after year. Yeah, Take a Picture, Hey Man Nice Shot, yadda yadda....there's so many great songs that never get attention.

/Title of Record is the damn-near perfect album for the late 90's. Holds up well today.
//Wish I could say Rob Zombie held up as well. I grew tired of the Yeeeeeeeeahwordswords words quickly.
