There must be some record of them purchasing the DLC to unlock this feature.

Shall we play a game?

The store was out of the Mig addon and they were forced to buy the Airbus one instead.

Then, why the need to spirit the SAM launcher out of the country right away and secretly? Something doesn't add up.

Only if it's Global Thermal Nuclear War.

Give a bunch of fat, drunken rebels one of these things, and it's not hard to see why that was a disastrously irresponsible idea

Being a fat, drunken rebel is no way to go through life, comrade.

And yet, the Harpoon series is no longer developed as a consumer product. Still a market, I think.

ugh.  The SA-11s were one of the scourges of the Janes' Apache simulator.

They didn't need it, maybe they can bring it back if it's unopened.

If it's not done secretly, then you're spiriting wrong.

We should have secretly replaced SAMsim with Euro truck 2014. That way they would just clog up the roads with their belligerent behavior and terrible techno.

I don't get that either.  The SA11s are fairly common throughout Eastern Europe.  They wouldn't strike me as odd beiing out of place in Kiev.  I don't know why they wouldn't just let them sit, unless they were worried about NATO spies closing in on the actual launcher with some kind of proof that it was the one that fired ze missile.

I LOVE this stuff.  It's like the bad old days all over again!

Lots of shiat doesn't add up. Including your logic.
Seeing as they're denying having shot it down, wtf. would they want a Buk launcher with a few missiles standing around?/I am trying to guess what your conspiracy theory is.

Was the correction written by Dr Seuss?

We initially confused the 2K11 Krug missile with the 2K12 Kub. The Buk succeeded the Kub, not the Krug.

I wish they had done a better job of debugging that thing.

I played with the beta when they were doing a modern PC version (it was still based almost entirely on the old datasets, though) and there were bugs I couldn't imagine how they weren't killed before beta.  They weren't very friendly to bug reports, either.  The worst was it did not keep track of what was already in flight, ships could expend their entire SAM magazine against the first stuff to come in range.  In the most extreme case I saw 1000+ missiles fired against 3 inbound missiles.  (I thought the enemy was completely dead, I had rounded up all my forces and were sailing them to the victory point.  No patrols because that slows things down and I didn't think there was anything left.  Turns out there was one bomber left, somehow the computer found my force and sent it out.  Every ship with long range missiles fired repeatedly.  By the time the first missiles actually got there the smaller ships were dry and the bigger ones only had a few SAMs left.)

It would be relatively easy to identify a Ukrainian vs Russian systems, serial numbers or even small production changes. Finding a Russian vs captured Ukrainian system would be another blow to Moscow. Better to pull it out of the area and try to claim ignorance.

It should be interesting to see what emerges in terms of photos over the next few weeks/months.

far easier to deny having had any launcher than splitting hairs over whose it was and how it got there.

I got  sooo good at nap-of-the-earth flying and engaging from the opposite ridgeline because of those f*ckers.  I imagine a pilot IRL would have returned from those missions with bird nests in the undercarriage, the way I flew.  Thankfully trees weren't as well modeled as they are Battlefield 4.

/ got good at jumping into gunner seat really fast to waste something the flight came across as we snaked along the valleys
// bought a HOTAS just for the Longbow series, back in the day

You won't get the full experience unless you down a fifth of vodka before playing.
