Tony Romo is on that list.

Make of that what you will.

Romo being listed is a joke in itself, being listed ahead of two superbowl winners is ridiculous.

Does a grope count as a clutch?

Woo-hoo! A Tony Romo hate thread!
Wait, what month is this?

rumpelstiltskin: Woo-hoo! A Tony Romo hate thread!

I actually don't hate Tony Romo (and I'm an Eagles fan), but one thing I would never call him is clutch.

FTFA: Romo is one of the most efficient fourth-quarter quarterbacks, completing 69.6 percent of his passes and compiling a 105.6 passer rating in the final period last season. Critics, of course, will point out some memorable interceptions with the game on the line, but the fact that he has orchestrated 11 fourth-quarter comebacks in the past three seasons suggests that he routinely comes through

As a Cowboys fan, I posit that it's not just Romo. We've seen that guy do some amazing things. He's also done some boneheaded things, true. But I don't think the Cowboys' problem lies squarely on Romo's shoulders. Something about that team is always just ... off the mark. But at least we haven't had a losing season since 2010.

Having said all that, this makes me lulz:

I knew as soon as I saw this thread that it would be a Romo-trolling thread. I never imagined that it would be done by the author.

Who would you prefer to have as quarterback, Tony Romo or Philip Rivers?

I would agree, but his ability to perform in close games is pretty well documented.

I remember that game. If it was his first pass, no one would remember the pick, but it was his last pass, which ended the game, so...

Lots of Romo haters out there, each seemingly doubling down on "he's bad, I don't care what the numbers say" and not understanding that most NFL teams would be thrilled to have him.

/Not a Cowboys fan.

Except that the one interception is with :20 left and is the 6th TD reception for the Defense. (yes that is mostly an exaggeration.

One thing that I have learned though all my Romo bashing over the last year is that Romo is not all that bad. He just needs a closer.

2014-07-20 03:35:53 PM
Um yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and keep Peyton, even if he played like ass in the Super Bowl. His arm strength is coming back too. If Emmanuel Sanders adapts, I like our chances to get back to the dance, and maybe do better than a Silver Medal.

Only if I can also find out which QBs inspire their teammates with their leadership, hard work, and will to win. Which guys really have the intangibles, someone needs to measure those for all the QBs.

Well, the Cowboys' D has sucked for as long as he's been there.  And he's probably cacked as many games as he's saved.

The only two questions 4th quarter comebacks ask are "Were you down at some point in the 4th quarter?" and "Did you win?"

By that simple metric, Tim Couch had 10 4th quarter comebacks. (He is also the only QB to win more than one NFL game with a Hail Mary.)

Tim Couch is gonna miss a few games if you sign him, even now.

When your defense won't allow your team to hold a lead for more than one possession, the 506 yards really don't matter. That's more like it.

Is this another set of numbers that people are just going up & ignore?

Sorry, but Brady is #1.
Argue against it however you like, but he has led 2 final drive to win super bowl wins. That the definition of clutch.

And if you want to quote numbers, 3 >1. The three on the list before him have 1 ring, he has 3.
Thats all the math you need right there.

I would call him clutch.  When the Seahawks needed a miracle, he somehow came through.  Even though he was only the holder.

Jeff George was terrible.

But goddamn, that one single year that he just threw 80 yard bombs down the field all season, knowing Carter or Moss would be bound to reel it in, was magical.

It has to be worn down to a pimple (from a nub) by now with all the "excuses" that Romo gets around here

subby here. I was checking out how's the pricing for this year's gamepass and ran into that article. I just had to submit it, knowing that exactly this thread would unfold *mad cackling*.

/I missed you guys
//american football season is too short dammit

2014-07-21 01:23:32 AM
And another thing: There's no total amount of attempts that I could see in the article. I could have 5 comebacks in 5 attempts and that would be better than 10 comebacks in 40 games trailing by one possession.

Instead of piling on Romo, I would be thinking... you scored five TDs and still lost? Your problem isn't exactly the QB.

It's OK to be honest about a team that you hate. In fact, I think it makes you look like a MUCH better fan. It means you actually watch the games & process what you saw instead of just hoovering up whatever SportsCenter decides to tell you that day. It's really refreshing.

That being said, I hope the Eagles are really good this year. It's much more satisfying to beat 'em when they're good.
