I doubt POTUS has much control over who the NFL decides to put on the Super Bowl Half-Time show.

Why would they want to do something half way entertaining?

2014-07-20 12:55:21 PM
We SHOULD make this happen, the combined powers of Fark, facebook and twitter could create enough of a stir to get this noticed... While the POTUS might not be able to do this, if it gets a buzz, perhaps someone who CAN might hear about it...

Signed.

The same way he controls terrorists, the weather, spree killers, airline disasters, etc, etc, etc,.  It's all a distraction from Benghazi, wake up sheeple.

Would be great - will never happen. Weird Al doen't fit with whatever corporate synergy bullshiat that Roger Goodell believes in so wholeheartedly. It will be either a current popstar or a "classic" act. Remember this is the league that now penalizes teams for being happy they scored a touchdown.

It's either going to be a geriatric rock act like the Stones or Aerosmith, or some flavor-of-the-month pop retardedness like Katy Perry or Iggy Azalea.  It always is.

Probably because it asked for a law.

Can we petition the NFL directly?

One of the songs he released a video for this week makes fun of sports fandom. Doubt the NFL has any sense of humor about that kind of thing.

Facebook, Twitter campaign to the NFL's accounts would probably get media attention, and would at least get him considered by NFL execs, it worked for Betty White and SNL.  I believe Al is already on record saying he would do it if he were asked.

Someone would have to organize it, set up a fan page of some kind, create specific # tags, and most importantly layout content guide lines.  It would have to be promoted as a family friendly mulch-generational choice. No negative tweets or posts calling the NFL a bunch morons or corporate slaves. The entire campaign would have to focus on the entertainment value increasing viewership.

A positive is Wierd Al's career is so long almost everyone under the age of 50 has heard of him and knows who he is.  As I see it, there are very few negatives or risks with his performance, the NFL would just need to be convinced of this.

I'd hardly call Katy Perry "flavor of the month". She's had 13 top 10 songs in the last six years. You might not care for her music but she's shown staying power.

I actually agree with this.  People that abuse these types of petitions/processes that allow the public to voice their opinions and concerns will eventually have no voice.  If not, they may just fall upon deaf ears.
