That wig was probably the best thing from last week's show, other than the idea of Eric & Pam working in video store purgatory.

I think they should reboot the show as a Clerks take-off with Pam and Eric running the video store.

I sorta recall that there will be a network Oz series this fall.  Anyone care enough to confirm?

I'm wondering if the story is now safely out of copyright (Supernatural was very careful not to use anything original to the MGM film).

/It's also the title of a Scissor Sisters album, which Alan Ball will likely use music from at some point.

So close yet so far. I couldn't see any nipplage.

Pretty good character piece from all involved. I like how there's no established big bad yet; besides fears.

Eric in that hideous cowboy outfit and hat had me laughing my ass off.

Also the scene with Sara and Eric; when she saw him in the hallway turning the corner, I was thinking "That is SO Terminator 2". I wonder if that is a thinly veiled reference to Emilia Clarke playing Sarah Conner in the next Terminator movie. Most everything in True Blood is thinly veiled. That's why I love it.

Then Eric ripped that dudes jaw off. Gross. I guess he took a bite outta crime.

Emilia Clarke is from Game of Thrones, not True Blood.  Anna Camp plays Sarah Newlin.  So why would there be such a reference?

Yeah, it seems like it's going to end with vampire genocide, and most humans won't care or will be relieved.

I am firmly convinced that the end game is Bill/Sookie, so that now that Bill is infected, there will be a cure. Maybe Sarah Newlin has it. She helped create it, so maybe they made a cure at the same time.

It definitely seems like they are going back to their most popular pairings of people from past seasons. "Bill and Sookie" is being telegraphed every 5 minutes, and although Jason and Jessica didn't last long, I think it was a fan favorite.

I just finished binge-watching the entire series; this was the first episode I watched live.  It's a pretty ridiculous show in so many ways.  Other than the Authority, the big bads have been fairly lame.  And I kinda hate Sookie, but love Jason, Jessica, and especially Pam.  I could watch a show of just Pam degrading people for 60 minutes.  I'd totally watch "Video King," starring Eric, Pam, and GingerAAAAAHHH running a video store in the 80s.  Comedy gold.

I'm not sure if they'd make the ending so bleak (unless the final episode is written by George R. R. Martin).

That was pretty funny. I was hoping he would say "howdy" or something similarly out-of-character.

I fully expected Newlin to slip, fall, and then skitter backwards in slow motion on the floor. THEN Eric could have reached down and picked her up by the throat.

Yes, it is known. Maybe it's just a "shout out" or an inside joke or something between the show runners.

I thought Russell was rather badass. But your other point is dead on. "it's a pretty ridiculous show in many ways". That is true. The show knows how insane it is, gives no farks, and is generally what it says on the tin. To parrotphrase Tyrion: "if you're looking for Emmy's, you've come to the wrong place".

Oh, yes.  Russell was six kinds of awesome.  American Horror Story does not utilize that actor well at all.

A few episodes ago, or last season, there was a scene where a long haired, behatted vampire dropped to the ground, all shadow except for his teeth.  Did we ever find out who that was?  Was it supposed to be Ben/Warsaw or whatever?  Did we ever figure out what Lilith was?  What Bill became?

How is that ending bleak? They're vampires. They feed off of humans. They'd be an apex predator if they weren't such parasitic weasels. The whole mainstreaming thing has just made everybody's lives miserable. Even the vampires, on the whole, are worse off. Would some individual vampires be missed? Sure. Would vampires, on the whole be missed? Hell no.

Spoilers? Spoilers.

Yeah, that was Warlow. It did not end up well. So much potential. I think Lillith is a vampires desire made flesh; the mind being more powerful than the body makes her "blood" more potent. Bill lost his powers at the end of last season when he saved the vamps at camp.

2014-07-21 09:46:43 AM
Thanks.  The Lilith storyline just puzzled me.  The telekinesis.  The three bloody girls.  The sunlight realm where Lilith lived (was she a faerie?).  Bill's resurrection.  The religious stuff.  It just felt like they never resolved it, never tried to explain or make sense of it all. I was Lost-lost.

The show loves to be self-righteous and makes statements, and that would actually be a pretty powerful one.

Given that we're about halfway through the season and there hasn't been any hint that there could be a cure, if it suddenly turns out that someone is sitting on one that will be such a deus ex machina solution. Oh wait, that's the very nature of True Blood season arcs.

Or maybe the director of the episode just likes T2.

That seems more likely than your six degrees of separation homage.

It's just an awful show and you people should feel bad for watching it. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your souls.
