Awful show.

BalugaJoe: Awful show.

I'm surprised it's still on the air.  It wasn't as bad as Terra Nova, but it was pretty close.  If I wanted an ABC after school special every week, I'd watch TV at 3pm.

2014-07-19 03:36:45 PM
It went to crap really fast. I stopped DVR-ing it long ago.

A shame, too. It has a lot of good elements. But no writers, plot, actors, etc.

Thank Christ, Noah Wyle can go back to The Librarian saga.

I was just wondering yesterday why that show was still on.

My wife and I watched the first 3 seasons. We tried to watch the current season, but it just got so silly.

Wait. You're not saying Bob Newhart plays a vampire, are you?
Because I would watch the shiat out of that.

I'm afraid the girl from Castle is the vampire, Bob Newhart is Bob Newhart. But he does kick a lot of guy's asses.

I made it through the first season, but when season two came around I didn't even bother.

It is going to be a tv show now.

I dont know what it says about me, but I still enjoy this show. Whatever the reason for changes in style, or "reboots" every season, I like it. At least its not treading the same ground over and over.

2014-07-19 06:35:33 PM
I haven't watched this, but I've been saving up the episodes.

Surely it can't be as horrendous as Under The Dome.

2014-07-19 06:39:40 PM
I only have time for one truly bad show.  Right now that slot is occupied by Under the Dome.  However if that show didn't exist I would be watching and yelling at Falling Skies. I made only a few episodes before I said "NOPE"

I quit this year as well. Watched first ep and said forget it. Same with dome

I kinda liked it, in spite of some of its nonsense. Sarah Carter, for sure. Also am a fan of Colin Cunningham, one of my favourite "Hey, it's that guy" calls (him and Ryan Robbins). So watch final season? Probably. Under the Dome simply did not appeal to me, never watched. Meanwhile, still can't make up my mind whether I like Defiance or not, but keep watching.

I binged through 1-3 on Amazon Prime, and didn't think they were too bad for network TV.  I wouldn't sit down and watch them again, but it was better than Extreme Ice Road Swamp Logger Trucks Hauling Pawned Gold and Crabs or whatever the hell they are showing on History and Discovery these days.   Granted, that's a really, really low bar but there it is.

From what I've gathered here they went off the deep end in Season 4 though.

Falling Skies I like, although I think it's just inertia at this point.  I'm saving up episodes to watch during a long flight+layover next month, so hopefully this season isn't as bad as others are saying.

Under the Dome is absolute trash, yet I can't stop watching it.  It's just awful in every way.

Defiance never did it for me.

From what I can gather catching the recaps at io9 occasionally, the dome creates air and rain for the people inside to keep them alive long term.

It isn't completely sealed.  It lets moisture and oxygen in (although apparently not large blasts from oversized bombs).

If you had read the book, there is a slight amount of air that passes through the dome.  Not a lot, but some.  Also in the book, by several weeks in, air quality was an issue.  When you throw smoke from fires and automobile exhaust it got really bad.

In the book, thermal energy from the bomb gets through the dome and sets some crap on fire.

The Pope character is the most unintentionally funny character on TV. The guy who is playing him should win an award for over acting.

Hated the show, especially because the aliens were just so incredibly incompetent.

The first three seasons were watchable dumb sci-fi action.  This season is just plain dumb.

I can. When they killed Lupo, that was it for me. First episode of the second season and I was out.

2014-07-19 10:23:19 PM
I wouldn't say this season is dumb.  The jump from s3 to s4 was offensive.   OK you know how we entroduce a new alien race to kick the big bads around and creates a 3 way power struggle..... Well forget about all that and they had to leave so lets eboot to s1

2014-07-19 10:32:34 PM
Stopped watching midway in season one. It was bad.
My "bad" show of choice was Revolution. Got kinda pissed that it got cancelled. But I sat down and it passed (me being pissed).

/Failing Skies got to stay but Southland got cancelled
//TNT can EABOD
///It only needed one more season!

Dalrint: Huh, I thought the last ship was a mini-series.

Probably should have been since ninety percent of the book is the author surrogate admitting he was sexist, discovering women are actually useful (you know, at the end of the world) for other things and then completing that pendulum swing coming to view them as Goddesses. And since they all ready changed the basic plot (the Russians in the book are friendly and the team up), probably could have made it a four hour TV movie.

I appreciate it. I tried watching a couple episodes of the previous seasons at the time and just wasn't getting into it. I was multi-tasking while watching it, so I thought it might have been me. From what everyone here is sharing, I'm not going to waste my time trying to revisit it and give it another chance. So, I'm actually thankful for everyone's posts here.

I have actually been enjoying the show. It's got some conceits, but then again, I like Contiuum and have been having a good time with Defiance--the show, not the game tie in which DOES look awful. It's still miles better, in my book, than the endless navel gazing that The Walking Dead turned into, and likewise, I really did not enjoy BSG, and Lost I never got beyond the first twenty minutes of the first episode. It's likewise miles better than The 100, which is just teen angst given the Lord of the Flies treatment with a ruined planet to explore. I can see where some folks might not get into it, but it takes an alien invasion to an interesting place. It's an apocalypso sort of show, but one that isn't doesn't turn everyone into selfish asshats, or conspiracy nutters. It hooked me a damn sight easier than Revolution, which I didn't make through the pilot. Terra Nova was just sort of silly, but maybe it WAS a Mass references, and a history professor helping lead the unit that resonated for me. Maybe it was the simple fact that no one really knew WTF was happening, and just trying to get by. I'm looking forward to seeing the show through to the end. It's not Farscape by any means, and the arcs aren't as detailed or as clearly lined up as say, B5, but it's piqued my interest enough to keep me coming back for it, summer after summer now.

We watched the first three seasons and had a love/hate thing with it. After watching the first episode this season it's been rotting on the dvr. It went from fun-bad to ugh.

Nazi themes, Starchild ripoff, masked vigilante hero, over-written over-acted anti-hero, ret-conning the entire previous season in a forty minute episode (holy shiat that's a lot of commercials), introducing newer old aliens, etc etc etc.

It's like someone vomited a sci-fi tropes list onto a script and said fark it.

For all it's flaws, it has decently paced action. Unlike that boring turd "The Leftovers"

For the uninitiated: all this show really is, is the "V" remake that TBS passed on in the 90s because they couldn't afford it. Seriously, think about it, *especially* the awful "starchild" trope. It's got everything but Robert Englund as a sympathetic vegan lizard. Maybe if they brought back Michael Ironside I could keep caring; as it is now I only watch it while doing laundry.

Hard to believe that he used to play the straight-laced, clean cut lieutenant on "Stargate", at SG Command.

I kept hoping that since the actually named "V" franchise reboot was such a total piece of crap, that maybe this recycled "V" plot script would make a suitable substitute, but so far Season IV has been so dawned awful, I wonder if I would even care if it did get the axe... unlike "Continuum", which had what appeared at first to be a terrible start to Season III only to finish well, and if THAT show doesn't get a Season IV to tie up the new cliffhanger loose ends, then I will surely be pissed!

That's just what I said about the V remake. And the Total Recall remake. Michael Ironside could guest star on Glee and make it bad ass.

As awesome as Ironside is, there ARE limits to what even he can do.
