(The British Open)   It's Saturday at the Open Championship. Can Dustin Johnson overcome the rain and catch McIlRoy? It doesn't matter. Discuss how ESPN keeps the camera locked on Tiger who's only trailing by 14 strokes to enter the day   (theopen.com) divider line 35

wow Johnson stiffs it on 1 while McIlroy got a rough bounce into the greenside bunker.  smells like a 2 shot swing at least.

wow the wheels fell off for Johnson while I was out for breakfast.  Rain stopped too!

Fowler charging, and Garcia surprisingly only semi-choking.

Let's see a great back 9!

I've never heard of Dubuisson. Is it wrong that I already dislike him because of pronunciation?

Pretty exciting with Sergio, Ricky, Dustin and Rory.  Thankfully, not so much Tiger!

Not sure how Ricky got out of that bunker.  Unreal.

I really do want to like Fowler, but those hats...
nice putt worwee.

I'm feeling awkwardly turned-on examining Rory's body as it's being lovingly described by the announcers.

Huh. I use the same putter grip as Sergio. Not sure what that says about my short game.

6-shot lead going into the final round. Like the US Open, this looks likely to be won by the first round leader.
However, Rory is always capable of throwing a bad round into the mix, so......

They actually didn't show him all that much today. I was surprised.

Wait a minute. You posted several times in the World Cup threads crying about how awful and boring football is.

And you like golf?

Seriously?

Golf as a spectator sport is boring as hell until the back 9 on sunday (assuming it's competitive, which this tournament probably won't be).  Until then, the only thing that makes it interesting is having someone to follow closely and root for/against.

Unlike soccer, though, you can just keep golf on in the background and flip your attention over whenever you hear the announcer say "Tiger" or "Rory" or whoever.  With soccer, you need to pay attention 100% of the time, because those 2-3 interesting moments per match will happen suddenly and without warning.

But that's true of any sport.

I'm proving myself a hypocrite here, as I'm posting in a thread about a sport I couldn't give two shiats about, but your user name really stuck out as someone who came in to the WC threads just to whine about how awful it is that people like it.

Heh. I think I spent most of the WC game time watching the Fark threads. They were most entertaining. And, when interesting stuff happens, you'll get a replay, and analysis at half-time and post-game.
