This morning, I saw a post in a thread that fellow TFer Deacon Blue had passed away.  Meg12279 was kind enough to forward the message she received from his brother, and after a couple of exchanges with him, he asked that we share something here so that anyone who knew him would be aware of his passing.

This is the message from his brother:

Hi this is Zack Randolph.  Deacon was my brother (I'm on his computer now).  The time stamp on the last e-mail is 3:20 am 7/15/14 (CST).  That's the last time I can prove he was alive.
My mother found him unresponsive in his bathroom at around 7:40 am 7/15/14 and called me.  I was on my way to work and got here at about 5 till 8.  I immediately called 911 and checked him for a pulse or breathing but he was already gone.

It appears to be natural causes; most likely a massive heart attack.  The medical examiner has completed the autopsy but nothing definite yet.

His name was Brent Randolph and it appears that you guys were internet friends.

He never got your last replies; he had already passed by that time.

I've copied myself on this e-mail.  We live in Arlington (Memphis, Tennessee) so you can search for his obituary if you want to verify.  Brent was a wonderful witty person with a dry sense of humor but he was and had been battling deep, severe depression for about a decade.

I am so sorry he is gone but that's the way life is.

Thank you for being his friend.

Zack

I didn't know Brent very well except that I always made note of fellow Tennesseans and we chatted quite often about Tennessee football.  Some of you may have known him much better.  His service is today, and the obituary is linked in the headline.  I don't know the protocol for posting something like this.  I know he was very active on college football threads, and perhaps the administration can better determine how to handle it.  If anything needs editing here, obviously, please do so.

Please keep his family in mind today.

I just reread my very last post to him and it was asking him to get help after the AMA thread.

I am not one for creating a scenario where government can become more involved in our online lives than they already are, but I do wish there was some way where an online community could more actively reach out to help when they see that someone is in trouble and let people in their lives or some other agency know they need help.  Probably a horrible idea I know.  Just sad...

I guess this happened due to natural causes, but man, given some of the things he said, its a hell of a coincidence.

Being depressed can mean you don't take care of yourself sometimes, and it sound like his depression was causing him to do things that would stress out his body.

This sucks.  He always seemed like a really good person.

I just wanna emphasize this a lot. If they are saying natural causes, then it was natural causes.

Poor guy. Take care of yourselves, people. Pretty sure we only get one go-around in this crazy world.
