I'm sure that's horrible news for the 3 women in the world who were both 1) Identified as dangerous radical Islamic fundamentalists by the NSA, and 2) Were taking and sending naked pictures of themselves in direct violation of Islamic law.

I second that emotion.  I've been begging for a No shiat tag for years.

Ya don't say.

His larger point that there is such limited auditing of the NSA domestic spying program is more worrisome than the thought of a bunch of twenty somethings passing around any poorly lit selfie pr0n they find.

1. I thought we knew this last year. Maybe I'm thinking of NSA folks spying on their exes.

2. And then Bill sends to George, George sends it to Tom, and sooner or later this person's whole life has been seen by all of these other people.

Classified systems used to be reluctant to make copies of information.  The other big thing we learned over the past couple years is intelligence agency IT is beyond incompetent.

I remember back in the 70s it was leaked that the phone company's lunch room was often entertained with piped-in feeds of private phone calls that the technicians thought were amusing. I'm sure that kind of stuff had been going on for decades before that but they just got brazen about it so word got out, a news story was written, and then Management had to get all Serious about it.

Anyone at the NSA who declares themselves surprised at any of this has declared themselves terminally stupid or a liar.

The same thing the computer repair shop does with your nudie photos?

I can guarantee the boys at Geek Squad of Terabytes of other people's porn.

If you send a junk pic, just assume that it's going to go viral. if you're cool with that, flick away. If you're not, then you're rolling the dice.

2014-07-18 12:58:46 PM
No sh*t. But I do like the thought of guys violating your privacy seeing a nudie picture and then thinking, "Avert thine eyes. This just crosses the line."

Because those are the only ones that Big Brother is watching.

I'm more ashamed of my general browsing history than anything else. I could stand on a street corner holding up a cell phone pic of my penis and feel less embarrassed.

Yeah, pretty much ^^^THIS^^^. The spying didn't actually surprise me, but knowing that it's going on now, there is absolutely NO SURPRISE here. It's just like the fact that the E.R. has a box under the counter of all of the X-rays from random people who had to get shiat removed from their butts.

Not me, my phone doesn't have a macro lens on it.

Well, there is a link to the Guardian and an actual interview with the guy.

What makes this so hard to believe?

Doesn't this mean Snowden is basically confessing to sharing (distributing) child pornography?  I guarantee you that more than a few pictures of nude, attractive, underage girls have crossed their desks.  Unless you mean to tell me that the people irresponsible enough to share these photos are also always responsible enough to check the age of the subject at the time of the photo.

As I understand the laws, those images would be classified top-secret, because releasing them could potentially expose how they were intercepted in the first place.  So at least in theory, anyone caught leaking those pictures onto the Internet would suffer a fate very similar to Bradley/Chelsea Manning.

Which'd still be awful for them if they were the only ones whose shiat we were sifting through. Please don't tell me that you think you're exempt from the spying on everyone's everything because you're a "good American."

How the fark can an 18 year old dude parse a 40 year old person's conversation for meaning, intent, and relevance?

No, seriously, have you watched an 18 year old dude parse a 40 year old's ideas lately? For that matter, the intent and meaning of parents. It's one thing to challenge the 18 year old with philosophers and scientists at school, who are writing in order to be understood. But the daily conversation, emotions, and intentions of adult life are still way beyond them. About the only thing they would have a credible grasp of is pr0n.

Nothing unbelievable about the claims, but hearing it from The Blaze is like hearing it from the crazed hobo who is always raping the trashbags in the alley on the walk to work.

He may not be wrong, he's just not credible.

Not sure why anyone would think otherwise, honestly. Government rarely gets the best of the best, and considering just how many people they employ... it stands to reason there are a lot of incompetent jags there.

Just like everywhere else, really.
