Will we bear witness to expansion or contraction of the BBT universe in the form of fewer episodes and fewer cameos because of this?

So the stars of the number one show on the network want more money? Get my fainting couch!

Don Gibb and Ronda Rousey sent in by the network to negotiate.

I read an article about this a couple of days ago that also referenced the similarity to "Friends", and made the comment that NBC, if it had the opportunity, would pay all 5 $1m/episode in a heartbeat. I chuckled.

I don't get this show or why anyone finds it funny.

Yeah yeah, stop liking what I don't like, etc. The jokes make me cringe.

No, no, you all just leave the show and see how *chuckle* your careers turn out. I'm sure *snicker* you'll be just as popular, if not more so! Just ask David Schwimmer next time he asks to mow your lawn.

No, it's them, not you. Rather, it's us, the people with taste and who've evolved somewhat. We should never feel ashamed that we're above that. If you're not intellectually insulted, it just means you're not all that smart.

My mind inserts a laugh track behind every comment when I read BBT comment threads. It's so frigging annoying.

My prediction. Raj is killed off and replaced in the group by Stewart. There will be no more love interests, no more Wheaton, no more belt buckles and there will certainly be no more stairs scenes. That elevators getting fixed.

Pretty much this.

TBBT is one of the TV shows that is still good and that I watch (ie. follow).

/Castle is the other
//I would say Once Upon A Time but...that has been getting harder and harder for me to watch

I think the cast of Friends each clear a few million annually from syndication. So Schwimmer could literally sit on his couch an entire year, and be a millionaire from it. Granted, it's not Seinfeld/David territory, but he's certainly not "mowing lawns" to make ends meet.

It is a sitcom, so already expectations shouldn't be too high. It is the junk food of entertainment satisfying but you wouldn't want to live off it.

That being said, what sitcoms are funnier right now?

Part of me agrees with you, but they are making a crap ton of money for Time Warner. I would rather see more of that money go to the people who do the actual work than the corporation.

From the comments...

And lets not forget the bad acting, you can smell the queerness from the skinny tall dude and for the last 3 season they have tried ... and failed... to make the blond girl on the show to look like Kelly, Brenda or Donna from Beverly Hills 90210-

Stay classy Post readers..

Of all the places to complain about the talent being overpaid, the entertainment industry should be the last. Literally nobody is required to participate as a consumer.

Given a show earns x dollars how would you distribute the funds?

2014-07-18 12:20:05 PM
Just pay them, you farks. It took 25 years for Star Trek to make a profit on paper, so you'll just make back the difference in Hollywood Bookkeeping.

Good for them, This show is a monster ratings success and the network and producers are making truckloads of money, why shouldn't the actors. Actors, like athletes only have a small window of opportunity to rake in the big bucks in any givien lifetime so they may as well milk it for all it's worth

David Schwimmer (and the rest of the friends cast) can be irrelevant as an actor for the rest of his life because he's rich... because he got $1 million an episode for the last season(s) of Friends. He won't need to mow lawns anytime in his lifetime.

True, but if you knew you could talk someone into sending a dump truck with $1,000,000 to your front door once a week for a few weeks wouldn't you?

And if they are smart they are getting a good chunk of the syndication money as well.

You do know that, outside of the NFL, TBBT has the highest price for a 30-second ad ($325,000)?

The show is worth billions, I would think the ones who are literally the faces of it could get more.

/For peons like you and me, I would love $350,000 a week

Wrong Friend. I think you mean Matt LeBlanc.

Schwimmer's actually had a decent acting/directing career post-Friends.

It's not a particularly inspired show, pretty standard nerd jokes and sex jokes. The only things you couldn't easily swap out are the sets and the actors and the sets are already built.

No one's going to watch the post-Penny or post-Sheldon eps in syndication.

I think Parsons would do well as well as Cuoco and maybe Galecki (at least he'll always be able to do bit parts etc. like he was doing between this gig and Roseanne, don't know if he'll be starring in any other shows or movies), I could see Helberg and Nayyar doing bit parts too but doubting they'll be starring in anything either.

I'm sure they'll at least be able to make rent from acting for years to come, but yeah not anything as big as this though...

Um, that's not actually true in all cases.  See, ultimately, all TV shows are paid for by this thing called "advertising."  The way advertising works is that a company who has a product makes a short little movie called a "commercial."  They pay lots and lots of money to make the 30 second short movie, and even more money to play the short movie during shows like The Big Bang Theory.  When the stars of The Big Bang Theory demand a million dollars per episode, the rates to play the 30 second short movie go way, way up.  As the cost for the short movie goes up, so does the cost of the product.  In the end the "consumers" of the product (that's you and me) end up paying more for the product.  So, to your point above, while I certainly won't buy all of the products that advertise during TBBT, I sometimes don't have a choice, thereby making your statement not entirely accurate.

Hey, at least they aren't insulting the producer like, Charley Sheen  on  TAHM.  But wait the actors want
more money from Lorre, THAT IS WAR.

I would except this could be a d^ck contest between  CBS and Lorre.   Who shells out the money.  Does
Lorre get CBS to pay more per episode OR Does it come out of Lorre's  pocket.

Question is are the actors stomachs strong enough to hold out for Something like  800-900K.    Cause they
be getting low balled here obviously.     Does CBS have rerun rights Into a new Season or does a syndie deal
forbid this.   Will they really pull the plug as "an example to the others".

In terms of  how these actors would do if there was no more  TBBT.
Johnny G,  Seems to have a lot acting range,  he would be fine.
Jim P  would probably get stereotyped, and get only clownish roles
The jewish guy,   See David Schwimer.
The Indian guy,   See  Wilmer V,  From that's 70's show.

And Kaley C  (are you reading this..) In  This work action I think she gains the most.    She's getting up
there in age and sell by date in Hollywood is about early 30's , No leads, no Movies in the future.   She's not J. Anniston second
coming (sorry hon, written in adorableness  is not the same as natural charisma on screen) .    I do think she does not get
enough credit for her work as most people figure she's acting herself with a little frosting, Myself  I cant really say how talented
an actor she is, (I would have to see 8 simple rule to get a better idea)

And to all the Kaley fanboys out there,  find the best pic of Kaley on the Show.  (not the one in her bra)  and compare
it to that episode in FRIENDS, in the 1st or second season, where  Jeniffer A. was in a School girls outfit,  long socks, short
plaid skirt, then try to convince me Kaley is hotter.

Crotchrocket Slim: I think Parsons would do well as well as Cuoco

Granted it was a tone downed version of Sheldon, but Parsons was very good in the Normal Heart. Seemed like the same character if they got ride of the Aspergers.
Cuoco could easily have a Aniston or Heigl type career of starring in shiatty disposable rom-coms for a decade.
