Red Bull and Smirnoff

Or, if you want the exact same effect for a tenth the price...

Both cocktails also contained some fruit juice. The participants were unaware of which cocktail they drank.

I don't care how much fruit juice you put in it, if it's got Red Bull I can guaranfarkingtee you I will be able to tell.

I kind of love that we're a society where I can drink a handle of 100 proof vodka after I'm done working, but it's the energy drink addition that's really causing the problems with the whole alcohol situation.

Yep.  You take the caffeine out of energy drinks and they won't do squat.

You know, I actually really believe this study.  Every time I go out with friends, I always seem to over consume whenever I drink alcohol and caffeine (red bull, coke, etc).  Doesn't tend to happen if I stick with beer and shots.  All my last blackouts have always happened when I mix drinks.  Now, I rarely drink liquors anymore so it isn't a issue but I know of a few people who have the same experience with alcohol.  There may be some truth to this study.

If you have blackouts I think it just might be the alcohol. Just a guess, mind you.

That's why I stick with rum and Dr. Pepper.

Drinking too much Red Bull may cause a sudden urge to fling yourself off the space station onto the back of a windsurfing shark (a new competition entitled Red Bull Fish Fly).

Nope, same problem with roofers, dogs barking, and untz-club hydration enforcement services. Problem is a blackout normally happens from both ends.

Caffeine pills and weed FTW.

Isn't the problem with alcohol and energy drinks a delayed onset of the feeling of intoxication due to sense alertness followed by the sudden crash; these together cause early excessive alcohol consumption, because there appears to be no effect, and latter excessive alcohol consumption, because there has not been the gradual loss of clarity which allows us to recognize we need to delay our next beverage or flatly stop drinking. Plus, folks who consume energy drinks and alcohol are seeking to get intoxicated because the energy drinks taste disgusting but overpower whatever sh*t alcohol was used.

I like the milk-plus - milk plus vellocet or synthemesc. Sharpens you up, makes you ready for the old ultraviolet lights at the office. Right, right, right.

Yeah no. Been there done that.

I'll stick with beer now.

Ok, so I learned that it's wrong to judge people, but it's ok to judge people if they are club-types by calling them "garbage people."

Yeah, that right there would kill my desire to drink, too.

The problem is that alcohol is primarily used for its effectual flux, not its primarily dispersive-depressant properties, and there is odd cutoffs in a sentient beings choices for seeking completion of an itch unscratchable by anything but their own satiation.

Bro, this might be true but I know some dudes who get some serious top shelf pussy pounded drinks like this back at the house.

Hunter and Vaughan laid two tri-delts last weekend thanks to red bull and vodka, and they just met them on Steve's dad's boat earlier in the day!

Sweeeeeeet!

Based on my own experience, drinking six or seven cocktails (for free!) at a shiatty nightclub, followed by two Red Bulls after midnight was a dumb idea, but at least I didn't pass out.

I love that this drink bothers the pearl clutchers so much and there's really nothing they can do about it.

But but but it keeps you awake!  You're supposed to drink, get sleepy, and go pass out, not get buzzed and drink more.

We didn't approve of this new way to have fun! Stop it, stop it at once!

Wasn't there a number of articles last year chronicling the same with Fourloko? You feel more alert, the drunker you get, until you just pass out.

It's not exactly a "new way to have fun". It's fundamentally what killed Chris Farley, Johm Belushi, Mitch Hedburg, River Phoenix, and countless others.

Well, technically, they died from speedballs, but it's the same principle.

These are legal products though.  That one must drink.

/legal for now at least

New study shows that Red Bull and vodka gives you wings but they are floppy and want to go straight to sleep after one round half-hearted round of inept lovemaking.

Myth tells us that Dickurus drank it before flying into his son.   Or was it before Daedeling his son.

Either way, it's all rather distasteful.

Greek cautionary drinking tales tend to ouzo with tragedy.

Meh. How is this any different than over the past 40 years? There's always been some mix of caffiene & alcohol. Its been mixed by taking either No Doz or Black Caddies.

Well yes.  I never implied otherwise.  I'm just saying I know of couple of people (myself included) that have a habit of over drinking when we begin consuming mixed drinks so there may be some truth to the study that's all.  I haven't had any over drinking days in years.  Like I said, I rarely touch liquors anymore, just beer.

Caffeine doesn't sober you up--all it does is make you a wide-awake drunk.  And no one wants to be around that.

Alcohol keeps me awake on its own.  I don't need caffeine to help it, and I don't think caffeine adds anything to the effect for me.  (Not Red Bull, but I like Irish coffee - but I don't drink that very often.)

I know, weird effect, but it's hard for me to sleep if I've had a bit too much to drink.

What I don't understand is why people want to put Red Bull into anything.  That stuff is absolutely vile, I've had cough syrup that tasted better.

Oh, and there's nothing new about mixing caffeine and alcohol, Irish coffee is almost 80 years old, and similar things are even older.

I'm a big fan of mixing a 5 hour energy and a 4 loko. Take the pink lemonade version of each and mix it into a cup with some ice. We call it the 5th Loko.  Takes you back to the good ole days when 4loko had the good stuff in it.
