Lee451: fusillade762: What is it with TFers and cats? I mean, I love cats and am glad to be in the company of others that do, but how does a TF-only thread generate so many comments? And don't you worry about the "liters" not bothering because they feel like anything they post will be drowned out?

How did a site started with a squirrel end up with cats?

Without cats where would your almighty internet be?

My cat, Molly, went for a walk last Friday morning and never came home.  She was 21, and in remarkably good shape for such an ancient cat.  Her kidneys were shot and she was too arthritic to do proper cat-yoga to clean herself, but she was still fairly spry.  She slept 23 hours a day instead of 21.  I moved out when she was 10, so for over half her life she didn't have my bed to curl up on, but whenever I came home she still remembered me ("Oh, hey, it's you.  I didn't realise you were gone.  Feed me.")

Last summer, I was home between jobs.  She spent most of her time asleep on the stairs, but when I sat down next to her she'd always wake up and rub her face against mine.  When I was in school, I'd sit in the basement with my binder and books spread across the table.  She'd come and "help" but sprawling right atop where I was trying to write.  Other times she'd sit on my desk while I was on the computer.  When she was a kitten, she'd curl up on my shoulder until she got too big to fit.

I suspect she went and found a comfortable bush to hide under and let go.  21 is a damn good run for a cat.  Someone told me that for a cat to reach that age, it means they're happy and well taken care of.  If I could remember my Photobucket password, and had storage space, and could figure out how HTML worked, I'd post some pictures.  She was grey, with a white bib and white socks of varying lengths (knee-high on her back legs, more like mittens on her front paws).  Mum and Dad and my sister searched the neighbourhood, and there's a missing poster up on the mailbox, but it's probably beyond hope by now.  She's been out before, but she's always come home.  It's been really hot and dry this past week, so she'd have had trouble finding water.

Christmas is gonna be weird.  Usually when I go home for a visit, the first thing I do is find her and pet her.

Just got a call from UGA. Rufus was moved to the neurological ICU on Friday. As of this morning, they still have no clue. She said , "we're puzzled. We just don't know." He gets better in some areas and worse in others. He stood yesterday but can't today. He waga his tail but can't move his legs. The only positive is that he drank some from a syringe today. Nutmeg the cat has lost weight since he's been gone. I'm stressed to the end of my sanity. Rufus isn't in pain, but he's not getting better.

Hai guise! I'm taking Uncle Cabbage's example and am sitting in the local library (not sure when I will have internet at my new abode). I just skimmed the thread quickly, so - condolences on the losses, paws crossed for all ailing animals and peoples.....

yobbery:  Biscuit is a nimrod. Yes, I pissed on my cat. I got him nose to tail.

Serves the little shiat right for never coming out to meet me. JMHO.  :o)

professional_vampire: For those who are interested in the Caturday t-shirt from last week - heeere's how to order!   Link

For some reason, the library is blocking that site. Please email me the info (for future reference, I can't afford to buy right now)

I still have to post the pics I took last week at yobbery's house, and give you all an update, but I have to go back to job hunting right now. HOWEVER, I hope to be over at MR & MRS CDK's house tomorrow where I can use their internet and catch up with you all. If not, I'll come back to the library -  I've missed you guys.

Welcome, fellow languishing library lounger!

Is yer library full of special ed adults, gangers, and street bums like mine is?  Or did you get a good one?  If you got a good one, don't take it for granted!  Libraries are, in my opinion, vastly underappreciated in the digital age.

Good morning fellow Caturdayians... I have a sad tale to tell today.

As some of you may know, I work at a drop-in for street kids. Recently one of them got her first place, and moved in with her 6month old kitten Ashes. The apartment is supported housing, built for people with mental health issues, and permits people to have small pets. However, the windows open downwards, and are only about a foot off the floor. My young client has a place on the 9th floor, and sadly on Thursday morning, she fell out the window to a concrete balcony 5 floors below. We were all in shock, and mourning, because we assumed the cat had died. The young lady's boyfriend scaled the building attempting to retrieve the cat's body, but before he reached it the security guards came and talked to him, and they decided to help him access the area that the cat fell.

Well, we were all astonished when she turned up alive. For an hour it was a carnival atmosphere in the Centre, we were all so happy that she was ok. Ashes had a little bit of trouble moving her back leg, but she wasn't crying and she seemed to be ok.

A follow up xray and vet visit yesterday afternoon told a different story - her pelvis was shattered. Poor little thing didn't even cry, didn't complain, but she was all broken up inside. The surgery was $5k to start and for a street kid, even with the help of the SPCA advocate, it was out of reach.

So here's to Ashes, a trooper to the last...

NO SCREENS - we are hoping that the agency that runs the building will take note, because as a building for people with MH issues that allows pets, it's a goddamn safety hazard. We are all kinda dumbfounded as to how that happened.

Good Morning everyone!! Looks like its going to be a pretty mild weather day here today. Time to open the windows and doors.

Wentworth had to go to the Vet last Wed. General check-up and Rabies Vac. Got him into the carrier just fine, put him in the car, and he started singing the song of his people. All. The. Way. to the Vet. Take him and the carrier out of the car, and he stops. When we get in the office and check in, he is still being very quiet. The receptionist asked me if I brought a fecal sample. Didn't know I was supposed to. Wentworth left them one before his check-up was done. LOL Anyway, Wentworth weighs 16.5#, lungs good, heart good, and good bowel sounds. HeeHee, this was before he left them his sample, in his crate. The vet still can't believe how big he is. Not weight wise, but size wise. Then she wonders why I am eager to put out $80 dollars for a bath, deshedding, nail clipping, and teeth cleaning. I'm not going to even attempt it. :) Get Wentworth back in the car, and his song begins again. All. The. Way. Home. and my Mom thinks we should just bring him with us when we go to Michigan. Not going to listen to him sing for 8+ hours. Not going to happen.

Here he is in his carrier at the Vets. I think he was trying to hide, but not doing a very good job. :)
