Sad news

I got word today that one of my kids that I'd adopted out to a friend has crossed the rainbow bridge. Sparky was brother to Lily and Karl whom I've talked about here before. He was a big, dorky, lovable goof who gave nothing but love. He will be sorely missed.

Goodbye, Sparky.
I hope I get to see you again someday.

It's Roar On The Shore weekend here. Motorcycles everywhere. They had a parade of almost 6000 bikes today to kick off the weekend festivities. Free concerts, parts of downtown are closed off to all but motorcycle traffic. Charity rRuns thru Sunday.

Outside Comment on World's Oldest Cat.  Own copy of Sep Cat Fancy  came with half tonne of other mail, mostly begs from 501c3s.  Says there that one Pudge Butt, Pudgie for short, in Northbrook IL (Chicago suburb)  is #1 at 34 yrs.  I get impression this is US felines, not globe wide.
See if other candidates, if any, still visible; lost Interwebs in mid afternoon to dead battery in router device downstairs.  Howled at me, ~ A 2 octaves above middle C but not quite, every time Itried to re-set. Plumbicon able to Fix once he finally got home.  He  knew battery was flat; had been running 3 yrs & some, more than decent.

HAPPY CATURDAY!

Biscuit is a nimrod.
img.fark.net

Biscuit and Mia looooove to play in the tub. Most times when I go in the bathroom one or both will come flying along hoping we'll put the faucet on a slow drip. This morning was no different.

I woke up to the alarm as usual and dragged my groggy ass into the bathroom to have a piss. Biscuit came flying in as usual, passed behind me as I stood at the toilet, and sprung into the bathtub. When he jumped into the bathtub he also sent a scrub brush crashing into the tub. The noise and sight of this horrid inanimate object freaked him out and he went flying back out of the bathroom....only this time he passed in FRONT of me.

Yes, I pissed on my cat. I got him nose to tail.

I'm not proud. As I was trying to chase him down with a wet towel my Wife was asking me what was wrong....with no time to explain before he decided to jump on the couch or something all I could say quickly was "I pissed on Biscuit!". Once she heard the whole story a good time was had by all.

He's either really insulted or thinks I've given him the ultimate token of respect. I can't tell which.

I hear ya. I've been staying inside as much as possible because of several factors. Unseasonably high tempertures for this time of year in my area, extremely high pollen counts, and the topping on the cake...smoke from several fires in the area, all but one caused by the thunder storms we had last Sunday.

I have asthma so the high pollen & humidity we've been getting have been kicking my ass big time, and now a crapload of smoke trapped in the valley.

Do you have extra filters on your ac system? If not, you should look into it. My Mom had emphysema and installed a unit off of the central air system that filtered the air really well.

Cat Rescue Wranglers - Advice Needed!

Mamma Hisss! will be spayed and returned to me by Animal Care and Control under their Return to Field program for feral cats- if I agree to be the feral colony caretaker. Which I pretty much am anyway, so..... What I need advice on is the kittens - the SPCA says they are "too old" to be successfully socialized and that every day after 5 weeks of age you wait to socialize them just makes it even harder and at this point they are "just ferals". You and I and everyone who has ever been around cats knows that's the most incredibly FALSE "rule of thumb" ever. The kittens are fully weaned and abut 8 weeks old, so they're a bit old for the socialization to go easy, but it can still be done. I need to get them ASAP and put them in our "re-education center" MUAHAHAHA! (my mom's office). How the hell do I grab four kittens from a pissed off mamma cat? I may not even get a trap for another two weeks, so I have no idea how long until I grab Hisss! but I need to get those kittens in ASAP.

Any tips greatly welcome. I haven't had to do something like this in 20 years, so I am not exactly confident in my ability to *not* get shredded while grabbing kittens out of the yard.

Thanks guys!

I used food to get the kittens closer and then while they ate I'd sit there and talk to them to get the used to my presence. I'd hold my hand out to them, too, so eventually they'd get curious and come sniff my hand. I got four kittens at least calmed down enough to begin trying to tame them.
Because of other factors, I only got one of them socialized enough to be a pet, and she would never tolerate being an indoor only cat even when she had kittens, but she did take to being a domestic cat ok.

Greetings all... another busy day at work... heat pump is done, works very well... have started moving shelving in... adding more receptacles as I go, once I decide where stuff will be...  insulating the front wall and covering with plywood..  will still take a week or two to move everything to it,s proper place...  one of the brewery guys asked if they could temporarily store pallets of beer in my shop... and he was serious.. he got educated very quickly about the consequences of invading my space.. won't have that issue come up again.....

Real Women Drink Akvavit: Cat Rescue Wranglers - Advice Needed!

If there something you can get them to go in, that they feel safe in and you can move once they are in?

Or take a couple of days of putting extra special gushie fuds next to your feet so they have to get really, really close to you to get it and then leading them with a plate of the stuff while Gogh and Lady Earl are in a room and can't get in the way until the kittens are where you want them?

Had a cat 'baptized' like that here once, but circumstances were different. MacFeegle was just a kitten (read: 'curious about EVERYTHING') when an old friend came to visit. Old friend is male...i.e., a pointer, not a setter...and Feegle had to check out what he was doing in the bathroom (per Cat Rule # Something-Or-Other: "Humans are not to be allowed into the bathroom unescorted").
Jumped RIGHT into the stream. Lucky for me, he was pretty mellow about being bathed...

Picking up an extra shift tonight, so that's three for me this weekend. Extra money will come in handy. Don't know how much I'll be around, depending on energy level. Glad the Sherpa landed last week...
Gotta go pack up the bag, corral Raven and head off to Mordor.

Yay..!!  "Wall O'Text"(tm) ahead..!!

Is me..did I really even need t'say that..?  =P

This is my week+ past..and what's going on and why I wish this place was constructed o'cinder-block so's I could just find a nice, convenient, out-of-the-way spot and bang, bang, bang my head alllllllllll day long...

We'll do a quick outline form..then some explanation will follow, referencing such..now, in chronological order..

- Orange has serious health issues
- Best friend out here in the Southern Tier, NY gets sent back to jail on parole violation..three court dates pending..and I'm his liaison with the outside..
- Serious $$ probs due to 1.5-day paycheck from week, the 4th..  Father help's with $$ PayPal 'gift'..
- Son informs me he's getting married..to the girl he's been with since April..and wedding is in a month..
- Vet app't is made fer Orange fer this Sat..
- Son informs me, via text on Wed nite, he'll be up on Fri morn..call it 9am-ish..to spend the whole day..
- Realize Best Friend in Buffalo has a 2 bedroom apt that, he says, the 2nd BR is already all mine iff'n I ever wanna move back..  <cont>
- This solves where to stay, to attend Son's wedding, in a great way that also saves tons o'cash..!  Call Buffalo BF..  <cont>
- Buffalo BF informs me that, well, no..it's really only a one BR apt, but I'm absotively welcome to stay and <cont>
- He'll start looking fer a two-BR right away iff'n I want him t'do so..
- HM hasn't been in a talking mood with me since..call it Tues..
- Car brakes start grinding *hard*, yesterday..
- Other health issues, tonight..
- Up this eve, HM's son asleep, HM no-where to be seen..making coffee..phone rings..  Is HM..  <cont>
- "Lock the dogs in the bathroom..I'm bringing home another dog.."   All of a sudden, she's all conversational-like with me..  <cont>
- Dogs put in bathroom..new dog comes in..is a sweetheart..other two get used to him (enuff)..new dog asks to go out fer potty..  <cont>
- HM takes new dog out..  New dog promptly runs away..
- I still have laundry to do..
- still have much cleaning afore Son arrives (with Fiance, her daughter, and random-friend that's driving them up and back..)
- want to be in bed by 5am fer a few hours nap afore they show up..not sure that's happenin'..

Okay, that's the outline..  (I *KNOW* I've missed a thing or three in there..)  Details follow as such..

We already know all about Orange from previous postings..  He's currently fine, curled up on my bed, still behaving normal and still walking most poorly..no real need to go any further on that..  Save to say, covering the Vet entry up there, I will post what is found out on Sat after I get back from the visit..

South Tier BF in prison is my prob..no need to get into it..save that, around everything else, I'm expected (and will do it) to co-ordinate and disseminate all current info to the pertinent outside world..family and friends..  I be the central hub in this..like the first time..and this time looks to be worse and fer much longer..  =/

$$ issues are prolly close to the best thing in the list..  Dad's help put me almost exactly 'flush' with where I was..rather than *far* behind..  Now, I'm just behind on my terms..the terms I already knew..heh..  I called him asking for a loan (and hating to do so) and he listened to my reasons and said he'd send me double and that I don't have to worry about repayment..I was only spending my Inheritance, anyways..  =P  Sure I said it somewhere's in an earlier post, but bears repeating, he said..and I quote..  "Don't worry.  I have more money than I know what to do with..  It's not that I have a lot of money..but that I don't have much of an imagination.."  *LOL*

Son informs me of wedding..  Well, crap..  I mean, great..but..more cost..date is dead in the middle of a work-week fer me..how do I get time off..how do I afford the trip..am I attending or actually in the wedding party..I honestly own *no* dress clothes or shoes, atm, what do I do about that..?  And only a month to figger it all out..  More stress..

Vet app't fer Orange means more $$..but Dad's help means it's covered without hurting anything else..bigger problem is I have to reset my sleep sched..

Son's all-day-visit notification means I have to reset my sleep sched *NOW*..  FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU........

Buffalo BF thing turns out alright..a great 2+ hour phone call..  It all can be worked out and around..everything I had concerns over..and I no has'ta pay fer a motel or anything..get to stay with a friend I grew up with that I haven't seen in 6+ years..and see my kitties..Dakota and Jersey..that he's been caring fer since I left Buffalo..

Still not sure HM's prob but, until t'nite, we hadn't traded more'n two words since Mon eve..

Car brakes..muffler getting loud..damage to front and rear (deer and snowplow, respectively), tires and Electrical safety control system (ABS, Airbags, Trac Control, etc)..  Just another thing on the pile..  I just don't know how to make enuff money..   .>.<

"Other Health Issues.."   Do not ask.

Call from HM about sort'a-rescue dog..  OH..!  *Now* HM wants to be all reasonable and talkative..   Asks me to put our dogs on lockdown until she gets back in 5 and gets the other dog in fer a few min..do so..she gets back..   Dog is a sweetheart..a stray that is known..but no tags and is obviously a formerly 'owned' dog..  The house he often hangs at is going on vacay fer the weekend and HM said we'd take care of him..  Well..of course we will..  All goes well..dog is a *lover*..follows her, cleaves to me when I'm closer..  Is fine and in the house a half-hour or so..asks to go out to potty..  HM doesn't think about re-attaching the leash..  (to be fair, neither do I)..  New dog is gone like a shot..  =/  We *should* be able to get him back..neighborhood knows him and, at least, some of the kids downhill apparently knew we were gunna take him in..

Laundry, cleaning, bed..none of that started..and need to do so *right now!*..  Aaaaaaand Orange just took a horrendous shiate that only half-made it in the litterbox..so he scratched half the litter out onto the floor to cover it..  >.<

Sunufabiatch..  I'm getting no sleep t'nite..

Oh..pics of 'new' dog..and some cleaning issues..

The dog we were calling "Blue"..

img.fark.net

Yes, he has a blue and a brown eye..  No, we don't know his makeup..

Well Holy Hells...    0.o

Dogs just went crazy..  Got up, headed downstairs *fast*..  Bottom floor is pitch black..HM and her son both out and oblivious to all the commotion..  Hit the bathroom light switch (closest)..  Saw figure in front-door window..  Hit hall and porch lights, both..

Is a young (well, to me..call her mid-30's) woman..and rather attractive..  I open door and she asks fer me by name..  I say yup, is me and she tells me her name and that she's HM's friend from over-hill..

Well..  HM had mssg'd this friend..call her Jess, to simplify..about Blue getting away..  HM was at Jess' when she took possession of Blue, this eve..so was asking her to keep an eye open in case he went back to that area..

Then, Jess gets *another* FB mssg from a diff friend that says she saw a dog with matching description 10 miles down the highway..

Jess gets boyfriend up and has him hop in the car and they spend a half-hour driving up and down that area..with her calling fer Blue the whole time..

15 miles away, they find him..and he comes and gets in the car..and they drive here..   Wow..

I try and get my dogs back in the bathroom..but they're having none of it..remembering earlier in the eve..so Blue is brought in to another frantic greeting..and is not at all happy about it..  =P

Jess and BF stay a bit and we talk and settle Blue..  I get my dogs reasonably calm..  They leave, with Blue trying to sneak out the door..

*NOT* so fast, Mister..!  =)

I run upstairs and grab the few spare treats I have handy (small rawhide flavored chews) and lure him upstairs t'my room..  Is now clear to me he *does* have some hip issues..how appropriate, with what I've been dealing with with Orange fer the past week..

So..

Now I have Blue up in my room..with me and with Orange..  Orange hasn't given a single Rat's A$$ care about the newcomer..is like is an everyday thing..and Blue never expressed a moment of curiosity over Orange..  Leads me to believe they likely know each other well, from out in the wild..

Blue ate *all* of Orange's dry food..and has been ignoring the bucket of *his* food that HM brought home along with him, earlier t'nite..  He wants out..but lies down when I tell him..*will not* get on the bed..think prev owners must've been strict about furniture usage..  He's not whining..his hip/leg trembles from time to time but he's well behaved and seems perfectly comfortable..  Is currently lying down in front of the door he wants out thru..  Sorry, boy..  Not happening..  =P

Pics, or it didn't happen..?

img.fark.net

Blue, Orange..a color collage..!

img.fark.net

Nope, not Anchor Bar, at least according to the film. They went there, rated them on the same scale they rated everyplace else and they just weren't the best. Inventing them doesn't mean the make the best wing. The best was still in WNY though. The judged the best wings to be at Abigail's in Waterloo

Fuming, here..

HM came up about 20 min ago and took command of Blue (Street..!)..  Ferget that *all* she did was bring him here..then let him run away..and that I've been caring fer him all nite..

*AND* , in the process, she let Orange run out..which was not in my plans..

Now..  Street is lame..has a bum leg..  I'd been looking thru my minor personal pharmacy t'see iff'n I had any painkillers that would work..  I don't..  What I *DO* have is an SRI that works *great* as an anti-stress/anxiety in canines..and at 2/3rd's the dose..  This is a helpful thing, as is a med I rarely touch..

I pull one pill (2/3 recommended dose) and the HM freaks..

Tells me to back off and that she already gave him ibuprofen..leave doggie alone..

So.  Do you see the prob I instantly saw..?  Is Caturday..all, not 'most'..of you should..

Here's a hint, just in case..

Dunno iff'n the painkiller's gunna be a bad prob, but certainly won't help..  Slipped the pup my Trazadone..  He may hurt..but should be nice and mellow..  I know that's about how it werks fer me.. ;)

We'll has'ta see iff'n there's any fallout from the Ibuprofen..  I biatched her up, down, left and right over that..  Well see..

My cat Fluffy Kitty made her way to the rainbow bridge this week, after battling vaccine associated sarcoma for a few months. She was 13, and was the such a sweet cat, I will miss her. We did the best we could for her, we had her original tumor surgically removed, and the vet referred us to an veterinary oncologist, but for a 13 year old cat my mother and I decided that putting her through that would be insane. She was doing quite well until the end, but she eventually was too weak to do much besides eat and use the litter box, and after taking her back to the vet on Wednesday, it was decided that it was her time to go. Goodbye Fluffy Kitty, I will see you again some day :-(

Hey all-
I gots an interesting situation....  BUNNIES!  Yes, bunnies.  I live in close suburbia (small lots, we're all on top of one another).  Noticed two domestic bunnies hopping around the neighbor's yard (they're renters and rather new).  Couple other neighbors notice this as well.  Clearly domestic, not wild.....  Do they belong to the renters?  Why are they outside?

See them yesterday evening, both clearly have been in fights - tufts of fur everywhere.  Mr. Station picks up one and she's definitely injured.  Are the fightin' with one another or the local cats/squirrels/etc?  Im torn.  Do I scoop them up? Do I not - its after busniess hours...

Mr. Station is out at 10pm with Cooper's last pee of the night.  Sees renter neighbors outside with flashlights... Says "are you looking for the bunnies"... Why yes, they are...  He says he's seen them and they have been attacked and are in need of care immediately.  Neighbor kinda sorta acknowledges.  No clue if they brought them in....

Here's the rub:  This guy likes to sit on his back porch throwing knives at the fence, and has been seen fiddling with a gun (appears to be real, can't tell).  These people are clearly not to be trusted, and I don't wanna scoop the bunnies and have an knife and gun toting loony banging on my door.....

At this point, Im thinking to monitor and if I see them out again, Im calling anoymously into animal control, who hopefully will act on it.....

And now, a pic - Poor quality, but Cooper and Buster in amazingly close quarters (PROGRESS!)

Rufus Update...

Turns out it may not be meningitis.  My vet told me Wednesday that there was nothing more that he could do and that Rufus wasn't improving, so the neurologist was the only hope.  I hopped in the car and drove him to Athens to UGA on Wednesday night...

img.fark.net

Please, please share the link to the page I have set up for him.  I'm posting updates as I get them, too.  There's pictures and video, too.

https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/8h35/rufus-the-service-dog-s- ve t-bill

I need prayers, too.  I'm trying to save him so my daughter doesn't goo off the deep end.  We don't know if she's strong enough yet to handle the death of her only friend.  And that's serious - she's 17 and doesn't go out, doesn't meet with friends, doesn't chat on line with anyone or talk on the phone.  Rufus is her only companion.

Thank you so very much for listening.

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Sad news

I got word today that one of my kids that I'd adopted out to a friend has crossed the rainbow bridge. Sparky was brother to Lily and Karl whom I've talked about here before. He was a big, dorky, lovable goof who gave nothing but love. He will be sorely missed.

Goodbye, Sparky.
I hope I get to see you again someday.

Thank you and everyone else for the kind words. It's so crappy to lose a pet under those circumstances, she had her rabies shot last year around October, and then around March a lump started growing in the injection area. Prior to my having experienced this, I had absolutely no idea there was any correlation between vaccines and cancer and that there was any risk of this at all, but apparently it's always a risk. It sort of makes you begrudge yourself for having gotten the vaccine in the first place, but she enjoyed going outdoors, and the risks associated with not getting her shots were far greater than the possibility of cancer. My mothers other cat is strictly indoors, he wants nothing to do with going outside, so I think we may be a little more cautious when it comes to vaccinating him any further.

I'm so humbled by everyone's help.  His bill from my vet was $459 for the five days he was there.  I posted it on the site because I wanted people to know that they donations were going straight to him - not on anything else.  On one hand I feel so guilty and ashamed asking for help, but OTOH I'll do anything I can to save him.  He's only eight - we need to have several more years with him.

That's so very awesome that you live in Athens.  Depending on what I hear today I may need to know of a cheap room to stay there this evening...

I'm so VERY glad you mentioned this.  We rescued Nutmeg (our tortie) six years ago and I've just been putting off her vaccination since she NEVER goes outside.  After hearing this story, I'm glad I did.  The only reason I'll take her in is there's a problem or if Rufus' condition is transferable to her.

I totally understand. Took my sweet Percy there some years ago because they were the only ones who could deal with his issue. It was not cheap. But they are good at what they do.

I am not in town until tomorrow afternoon as I am visiting family up north. But i will be back sometime hopefully in the late afternoon at the latest. Not sure why i am sharing that but whatever. I will certainly do what i can to help as things progress for you.

Run looks fun, wish I wuz there (can't ride, but would prolly like the kind of concerts bikers are into).

Biscuit is a nimrod.

(dramatization)

Hi, All. I just received a call from Dr. Bozer (sp?) at UGA. She said that Rufus was resting comfortably today, but she was a little worried last night. Seems that he wasn't able to sit up at all. They would sit him up, but he would immediately flop back down. Standing was out of the question (and has been for several days). She decided to go ahead and give him a round of steroids that was more powerful than what out vet had done, and she started him on treatment for Canine Myasthenia (here's a link to a good page that explains fully: http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/neurological/c_dg_myasthenia_grav i s) The thought was that the benefits would greatly outweigh any side effects.

When she came in this morning, she said that she did see improvement. Not only would Rufus sit up when they placed him, but he also stood up for a moment!!! I know that's not much, but for him to sit up and stand for a moment after being on meds for only 12 hours seems like a great leap to me! Dr. Bozer said that it was a very baby step, but it did appear that it was an improvement. She also said to expect him to be in the hospital for many more days.

Canine Myasthenia is a result of something. If this is what he has, then we have to find out how he got it and see if we can treat the root cause. She had already sent off blood work from this yesterday - the results should be back in a day or two.

Please continue your prayers for him. I know that he is in the best possible place to get the best possible care now.

She's holding off on the spinal tap until she gets the blood work back since he's stable now.

I'm trying not to get too excited.  But my heart really wants to be excited.

Oh, spman.  I'm so very sorry.  My heart is breaking for you.

Where did the vet give the injection? It has been a protocol for over 30 years that rabies injections should be given in the right front leg, so that if there is a VAS reaction to the vaccine the leg can be removed. 3 legged cats adapt very well. There is an amazing Yahoo group for VAS and they gave me a huge amount of emotional support when I thought my cat had VAS. They also have a great amount of information available and can possibly point you in the right direction to get reimbursed for at least some of the expenses for the surgery. At one time it was a maximum of $1,500, but I haven't checked in 10 years or so.

I am so sorry sweetie. After this happened to me I always tell my vet that I expect them to give the vaccine in the recommended spot NOT in the scruff of the neck just because it is easier. I also do not get my inside only cats vaccinated for rabies. If the vet knows that you know where the shots are supposed to be given they won't try for the easy way. It does take more skill to give the injection down on the leg, but it can be done.

yobbery: HAPPY CATURDAY!

Biscuit is a nimrod.

(dramatization)

I must've skimmed past that earlier, I literally spat out my tea when I saw the dramatisation. My husband laughed his socks off too. Is Biscuit speaking to you yet?

Ms MacGyver: Hi, All.

Yay!  Hope he continues to improve.  What a sweetie pie, such a good boy.
How is your daughter coping with this?  Has she been able to visit him?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with a calico kitten who has a huge cattitude? I had always heard how unpredictable calico's and torties are, but having one of each that are very predictable cuddle bugs I had a hard time believing it. My vet is always amazed at how Lucy and Morticia are so friendly and easy to work with. The only strange and unpredictable one around here is Juno, but that's a whole different story.

I'm taking care of my neighbor's 7 month old calico kitten and this kitten is nuts. The first couple of times I went over there (when the owners were still home), the cat would plant herself on my lap, purr and want all sorts of attention. The last couple of times she has jumped in my lap and asked for attention, the first time she hissed at me so I stopped petting her and she jumped down. The next time she jumped on my lap and asked for attention, but I wanted to see how things went so I just left her alone, she turned around hissed, bit my arm and scratched me. I played with her for quite a while before to tire her out but that didn't help. I've used soft eyes with her and she does it right back, but then she'll hiss or bite or scratch, or all three. I'm not afraid of Cali, but it's going to be a long week for both of us if this keeps up. Also she tries to get out when I open the door and I really don't want to lose this kitten. Next time I go over I'm going to take a feather on a stick toy and see if I can totally wear her out. I'm going to open the door just wide enough to put the toy in to distract her which should keep her from trying to get out. Then I'll try to get her to play until she collapses, maybe then she'll sit on my lap and want some lovin' and not attack me. If anyone else has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

What a sweet, friendly and totally predictable Tortie and Calico might look like.

The first charity run for the Roar On The Shore Weekend was for the Sisters of St Joseph Homeless Shelter.
A good cause and the nuns were invited to ride along with some of the riders. I think it's a shame they don't wear the black and white anymore , cuz I think it would have looked great riding with the bikers in their old habits.
They also had a blessing of the bikes before the parade that opened the weekend. That took place in a Casino parking lot, too bad the Bingo Hall didn't have a big enough parking lot.

spman: My cat Fluffy Kitty made her way to the rainbow bridge this week, after battling vaccine associated sarcoma for a few months.

Sending lots of love and comfort.

Cassie is a bit less friendly and not totally predictable.  She tends to get more biatchy when ignored than when she's receiving attention.  For instance, the other morning I hadn't gotten up yet and was having Cassie cuddle times when I started to fall back to sleep.  She bit the hell out of my arm (4 fang marks and a bruise, no broken skin).  Sometimes she'll be purring and happy and then suddenly freak out and bite/swipe at me for no apparent reason.  She hears a lot of colorful language if I'm not expecting the switch or am asleep and get bitten.  The odd part is, she'll be pissed off for a few minutes then come back and expect to get loved on some more.  With the guy and kid, she makes it fairly obvious she's getting annoyed (flatter ears, angry mews, angry tail twitching).  With me, no such luck!  Probably because she knows how I'll react to it.  Best I can say is watch for signs of the abrupt turn of character and be faster than the kitten if you can (that works best for me when I'm awake).  I've gotten to the point where I can read Cassie and guess what she's about to do.  The bite from the other morning was the first time she'd actually make fang contact in several months.  I wish I could give you more advice... the ones with Torti-tude are... interesting.

I'm guessing that by the time they get home I'll have this figured out, or at least I hope so. I wish I could bring Morticia and Lucy over to give Cali a good talking to, probably not a great idea though.

I agree! And maybe the next time she tries to bite you, grab her (gently) by the scruff of her neck, and say "NO!" might get her attention for a second, or two.

Can you believe I am just at the bottom of page two?? So much stuff to be done post vacation, including ridding the garden of gargantuan weeds. Yeesh. Planted two hydrangea, a purple cone flower and two " butterfly weeds" all are Perennials.

And, just as I was relaxing, sherpa18 called! So good to hear his voice. He was sad that he could not meet with the Ohio gang. I told him we understood..I am so happy that he has landed, and can look for new jobs..I hope a kitteh comes to him soon...

Sherpa... glad to see you drop by... we need you here...  doing a small move myself... the new maintenance room has the shelving in it, toolboxes are being brought in, and I have an incredible amount of stuff to go through and store or dispose of... will be super busy tomorrow sorting and storing... have full access to the forklift truck for the weekend, which will help a bunch...
Had a couple of yard visitors this evening.. two cats from the next block... one went after Fred and got his clock cleaned, the other sat there and behaved.. Fred went over and checked him out... no hostilities there... he hung around for a while and then left.... first time I have seen them....  Fred might be kinda chunky but he is way fast... fight didn't last 5 seconds...

So very sorry for your loss. I am sure that Fluffy Kitteh looks down upon you and smiles, having had such a good hooman. She will be there to greet you, rest assured. Heaven, is that state in which we once again meet those in our lives who we loved, and who loved us as well.

Does it count if your cat jumps into the toilet because he thought the lid was down?
I thought that Gremie had learned to levitate the last time he did that. He did manage to jump into the bathtub from the toilet.

spinach gunk: Ms MacGyver: Hi, All.

Yay!  Hope he continues to improve.  What a sweetie pie, such a good boy.
How is your daughter coping with this?  Has she been able to visit him?

My daugter is not holding up too well. She took a trip without him for the first time. And this happens.

I left one of the feather things and intend to go over tomorrow armed with several other toys. Hopefully this will help keep her amused. I'm also going to look and see if I have any batteries for my laser toy. I could sit for hours and play with her with that thing.

They almost never leave her alone. I have a feeling she's is going to have a tough night. The good thing is that all I have to do is walk across the alley to get to their place so even though I have a pretty busy schedule right now, I can go there several times during the day.
