A Christian Charity wants to help poor children, the usual right wing suspects throw a fit.

Sounds about right.

Was the "child immigrant" part true? Because if it was, I guess we are now making some progress compared to that AZ congressional candidate that didn't even get that part right. baby steps, people.

What did Jesus say about helping the poor and hungry?  That's right, he said fark 'em.

Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.

"Jesus withdrew privately by boat to a solitary place, but the crowds continued to follow Him. Evening was now approaching and the crowds, many of whom had travelled a great distance, were growing hungry.

Seeing this Jesus sent his disciples out to gather food, but all they could find were five loaves of bread and two fishes. Then Jesus asked that they go out again and gather up the provisions which the crowds had brought to sustain them in their travels. Once this was accomplished there stood before Jesus a mountain of fish and bread.

He then directed the people to sit down on the grass. Standing before the food and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks to God and broke the bread. Then he passed the food around his disciples and they ate like kings in full view of the starving people. But what was truly amazing, what was miraculous about this event, was that when they had finished the massive banquet there was not even enough crumbs to fill a starving hand."

Was amusing to watch Hannity talking with a priest and a nun a few days back. Hannity kept trying to play the "compassionate conservative" by saying that the kids should be with their parents.

The priest and the nun basically said we should bring the parents here too and get the whole family out of a bad situation.

Not exactly what Hannity was expecting.

I heard that Michelle Obama was letting some of them stay at the White House in return for their promise to vote for Obama next election, if they provided the promise in writing she said there would be lobster sandwiches & rides in Air Force One.

Do you think the conservative media would do that?  Just go and write lies and put them on the internet?

While Catholic clergy and 'Murican Jesusians share common views on gay rights and birth control, Catholic clergy don't prescribe to the "hate brown people" tenant of Supply Side Jesus's teachings. Hannity should have known this.

I'm sure they will get a government contract to pay for the cost of housing the children but not the purchase of the property. And isn't that what conservatives want, the government contracting with efficient private charities?

This is what occurred to me.

For years we've been told that government is terrible for promoting welfare because it should be charitable organizations taking care of the poor.

Ok so let the Christian churches step in here.

For that matter since corporations have found religion, let's tie their tax breaks to their level of financial commitment to religious charity.

Given the audience of right wing blogs, I'm going to assume there was some bomb threats, rape threat, and some ole lynching talk that was directed towards the charity.

Those are pretty much two of the only views that Catholics and Paulists Evangelicals have in common, and even that is starting to change.

oldernell: The FEMA camps were built to hold millions of people.  Why don't we put them there?

Eh, that's too risky. The camps are equipped with technology that determines the conservative leanings of each inmate and fires lasers at them (this is where all that ObamaCare IT money went). Kids' minds are hard to read accurately.

fusillade762: So they've moved from mistruths to outright lies, I see.

Leading the charge is Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), who recently told the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention there have been "reports of illegal immigrants carrying deadly diseases," including the Ebola virus. The right-wing congressman also complained that many of the children "lack basic vaccinations."

They always lie. They have to, because the truth defeats them.

My old HS partier-turned-derper brigade post this guy's shiat on facebook once in a while. I love pointing out his title to them. Of course the response is usually- "well, what he's saying is right tho wouldnt you agree?"

that's kinda the dichotomy of any charity, tho.

If you lose your point in a circle of 'why do this when there is this other thing over here', you never do anything.

there will always, always be either somebody 'more deserving' or a group of people who think they are. always.

you either do what you do because you can do it, or you do nothing because you can't do everything. it really is that simple.

Subby seems to be too mentally challenged to understand what happened.  A company, which was sponsored by the U.S. government, backed off from the deal because of the negative publicity.  If this had gone through, the U.S. taxpayers would have payed for it.  But, let's not some version of reality get in the way of a good rant.

What sort of monster of a country would do something so terrible as to take in refugee children who just want a better life?

Clearly, the moral thing to do is send them back to the sh*thole they came from.

When I was a little kid, I remember watching the evening news and seeing a bunch of grown-up screaming and throwing rocks at a bus full of little kids. It really bothered me that grownups would do that to little kids. I can only imagine what today's little kids must be thinking when they see the news.
