It's a good compromise. Instead of taking the portraits down altogether they just add some data to the plaques to keep it real so to speak.

Don't remember Perzel at all. Had to look him up. 8 counts of conflict of interest, theft and conspiracy. 30 months in prison and a 1 million dollar fine. Dayum.

We'd blow the state budget here in Illinois updating the governors' portraits alone

For those curious, the lavatory is Governor Corbett's desk. It's also unisex.

We should just hang them on one of these as fast as we change them out.

Read about Harrisburg incinerator if you want more PA political humor. Bankrupted the city.

Perzel was probably the biggest heavy weight in the PA Legislature during the 1990s through leaving office. He's pretty much responsible for the state takeover of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, Convention Center and School District.

Why does it look like they are celebrating their criminal proclivities?

He helped torpedo the Philadelphia School District into nothingness.

I never said that the outcomes were positive, just that he had a huge amount of power for a long time.

I am sitting in my office across from the PA capitol building so I am getting a kick out of these replies.

I cannot wait to the "Governor" to get voted the FARK OUT. So much scum, I am not sure how they keep it all contained in that one office without a hazmat team.

I can't stand Corbutt either. But it was his office, as AG, that nailed those scumbags Perzel and DeWeese.

That was when he was cutting his teeth, not once he was greasing his wheel. He did that as either AG or and attorney (do not remember which) and he was apparently pretty good. He has really just used that as a stepping stone.

He did as much damage as Thompson has done to Harrisburg and the state.

I'd like to see this tried in New York, except that the engraver would wind up being a close personal friend of Sheldon Silver and get $125 million for the contract. All perfectly legal, of course - and no, you can't see the contracts or the other bids because fark you, pay us, fark you, pay us, pay us, pay the surcharge, and fark you.

I read the headline as...

"Welcome to the Pennsylvania capitol. Here we have the portrait of former House Speaker John Perzel, born January 7, 1950, elected January 2, 1979, incinerated March 30, 2012"

I don't really have anything to add, just...I am still laughing and...that is probably wrong of me.
