nickdaisy: Now if only they can get rid of the mummers, their accents, patti labelle, cheesesteaks, that smell when you drive from the airport toward the city, the homeless who sleep on the avenue of the arts, that abandoned wasteland across the river in jersey, the zoo that cages large cats in boxes, the mass transit system that takes 45 minutes to go ten miles, and all of north philly, they'll have the place fixed.Oh, and Italians. The place is just swimming with Italians.

HairBolus: Pennsylvania has byzantine alcohol lawsOnly* state stores can sell spirits and wine but they can't sell beer.Beer distributors can only sell beer by the case or keg.Restaurants however can sell beer or wine for takeout. Beer amounts range from 1 bottle to 2 six packs (unless you leave the store and return). However food stores (convenience, grocery) that contain an eating area need a restaurant license which gives them the right to sell beer and wine to go. So now there are a bunch of restaurants that have bang up beer sales where few people actually eat.I presume these new "pop up beer gardens" also have the right to sell beer to go.
