I think Hershey is the brand my sister likes because the company is socially conscious. Not her exact words, but they contributed to some sort of Cause.

IIRC the Hershey school is a residential primary and secondary school for underprivileged children and orphans.

Their brown wax bars are repellant though and again IIRC can't be labeled chocolate in the UK.

Nestle can EABOD though.

Hershey chocolate = Spackle, or maybe tile grout.

To me, Hershey bars taste like fiber held together by wax with a bit of chocolate flavor. However, the Symphony bar is actually pretty good.

Jesus Christ, chocolate snobbery is a thing now?  I understand the disgust for "choklit" or "chocolatey flavor" Easter candy, but Hershey's chocolate bars are goddamn delicious, you sackful of debutantes.

It's good that there are still some things you can count on.

Terrible news, comrades. I blame the war in Eurasia.

You can eat a bite of tile grout and a bite of a Hershey bar and not tell the difference?

Liar.

If your chocolate contains PGPR, fark you - it's not chocolate.

I like these, they're a little less than comparable ones.  Made in CH (swiss) also!

It's not the Hershey of WWII. Now it's HFCS and chemicals

Snobbery about anything and everything, no matter how obscure.

God--: It's not the Hershey of WWII. Now it's HFCS and chemicals

This. Hershey's has been coasting for the last thirty years on a reputation earned forty years earlier. What they produce is what they think they can get away with for that price point. It's garbage. Over the last couple of decades in particular, their quality, portion size, and value has crashed - they're the Little Debbie of chocolate.

Actually, I should rephrase that - they're the Hostess of chocolate, just before they were turned into an investment vehicle, financially raped and murdered, only to have its still-steaming corpse propped back up as a grisly pastry marionette.
