No pink? No purple? No flower print? I think I may actually cry for joy.

Of course not. Hoes are designed for men.

They already have tools they can work with. It's called kitchen knife.

They designed a Sybian for the garden?

"hergonomic"

yeah.  whatever.

Hey ladies, I got a tool that's ergonimically designed to fit you. Call me.

2014-07-17 09:02:21 AM
Now if they could just design curbs for women.

2014-07-17 09:02:27 AM
Wait, I though women can do the same job that any man can do.  Equality of the sexes, but only it it benefits women.

2014-07-17 09:03:22 AM
So... It's got a shorter handle?

Shovels already come with different length handles. Not every guy is 6'4", you know.

None of the tools and my grandfather's garage have the original handles, and most of them were used by my grandmother.

2014-07-17 09:03:22 AM
wow, a shortened spade.  That's never been thought of before.

for women ofc

2014-07-17 09:03:44 AM
mostly these just seem to be designed for people that are on average shorter. So they should also advertise them as specially designed for Mexicans and increase their market share.

Fair enough. Now design a riding vacuum cleaner (with butch flames & racing logos) for us menfolk.

On second thought, don't - we menfolk don't do housework.

It's a potato shovel

I want to needlessly reinvent things, slap a 'for women only' label on it, charge $64.99 a piece, and retire in the fat house.

Why does she need a shovel in the kitchen?

2014-07-17 09:09:34 AM
Marketing ploy... just for her.

I hire house keepers and a lawn service, still ended up divorced.

thisdaydreamer: No pink? No purple? No flower print? I think I may actually cry for joy.

Came here to say this.  There's too much "for her" stuff that's just the original thing spray-painted pink and marked up $10.  If something legitimately needs to be sized or shaped differently in order to be of optimal utility for a woman, fine, but good lord, you don't have to insult us by slapping pink flowers and cursive text all over it loudly proclaiming "this is the wimpy, dainty, cute version!"

"sells for $64.99"

Holy farking crap! 65 bucks for a damn shovel?

Even if this thing was actually designed to be easier for a woman to use, unless she's a damn ditch digger, how often does your average weekend gardener use a damn shovel to justify a price tag like that? I'm constantly doing projects around the house but for the 2 or 3 times a year I need a shovel the $10 one I bought at Lowes works just fine.

Have you noticed the pink hammers only go up to 16oz?  So men are still needed to frame the structure, or break the cement slab.

Back in 1991, I was with my aunt and uncle as they worked on renovating a new shop my cousin had purchased.  As the men were busy framing the news walls that were going to separate the store front from the back, my aunt was doing some hammering with a general 16oz hammer.  She said, "I may have to hit ten more times, but I can keep up with those younger guys and their bigger hammers."  I was a kid, but I still almost laughed.

/she's the aunt who hunted with a M1 garand
//She also drove school bus, and still does her own lawn work in her 70's, include cutting trees
///so I made a point to not laugh out loud.

60 bucks for a shovel?  I'll go to Family Dollar, buy one for ten bucks.  A when it breaks, I'll dig a hole and bury....   Well, I'll figure something out.

When I was a young man I noticed ad for soap specifically for men.  It was then  started to think about how much bullshiat we are fed through advertising.

Implication is that women are unable to use tools

That is how we have equality for the sexes, men being advertised to like the women.

I do like Dove for men, deep clean bar.  The skin moisturizing from Dove, with a bit of the old Lava soap feel, and I don't smell like a girl afterwards.  I didn't used to care about moisturizing, but I'm getting older and winters can be hard on skin up here.  I don't feel clean if I don't have the abrasive scrubbing.  So the advertising has done its damage, but at least I went with the bar for less cost.

It isnt the soap, I suppose, it is the ads.  Ax ads come to mind.

If men and women are equal, why the need for special equipment?

This shovel looks awful. Just using it would murder your back, whether you are a man or woman.

2014-07-17 09:56:08 AM
I bought a shovel a month ago at Lowes. Knowing Mrs. 1642 was going to use it I got the one that has a full length straight handle but the actual shovel is only half the size of normal. The product from the article is a marketing gimmick as there are already plenty of tools designed for women and readily available.

Agreed. My $30 more or less shovel has been around for ages. I've dug rocks and mud and sand and it's still around. I can live without this.

As a left-hander, i'm fine with that. I find them harder to use actually.

The last time I broke a shovel, I bought a full length shovel, but I did buy the shorter handle to repair the damaged shovel for the wife.  I learned to step up to fiberglass for the punishment I do to shovels.

Seriously? This garners international attention?

If all men are created equal, why do some of them need glasses? THINK ABOUT IT
