If a naked bald guy (or any guy) breaks into my house I'm gonna fill him so full of lead he'll be able to use his penis as a pencil so be can write letters to Nancy Pelosi complaining about how dangerous it is for citizens to have guns.

Waaay back in the day, after seeing a bunch of cops take down a crazy PCP-fueled nude fence-smashing Negro [on the show Cops] I thought "surely it would be a HUGE MONEY EARNER to start a website devoted to NUDE CRIME.... surely?!"

But I was drunk and I'm lazy.

Having said that, in the last 15 years I've noticed nude crime is farking everywhere. It would have been like starting a website devoted to crime involving guns.

Hmmm. Maybe a website devoted to crime involving poo?

And what exactly would you do there Mr. Pacifist? Great him with hugs and kisses. I'm going to agree with  nickdaisy, enter my home naked in the middle of the night and I'm going to unload one of my firearms in you. I'll assume you are there to cause me and my family harm.
But then again I'll doubt If you'll make it past the Great Dane so maybe I'll just save the ammo and let him use you as a chew toy.

I generally like busts, but this sounds awkward in that context.

I think it's the utter glee and flowery prose you guys use to describe the killing of another human being that sets off the "Internet tough guy" alarm... You seem to be salivating at the chance of getting to take a life in a perfectly legal manner... You're just hoping and praying for someone to Make Your Day! Normal people don't sit around dreaming about people breaking into their home and how they'd deal with it... It's a very unusual event which is very unlikely to ever happen... If it does, most people would be happy that the crazy naked dude just left on his own as in this case, and would be content to just call the cops after the fact... We wouldn't be mourning our missed opportunity to kill some crazy/drunk/high weirdo... Of course, I suspect most of the talk is just false bravado, anyway...

Someone breaking in to the place where you feel safest has an effect I hope you never have to deal with. we had our apt broken into and there was no naked guy and we weren't home. But it messed with my head something fierce. I walked the neighborhood looking for any clues. It made me a little crazy thinking about the slime ball who did it, what they could have done while in my place etc etc I wasn't a 17 year old teenager confronting a naked man at 4am either. So spare us. It would mess with anyone, mangnify that by her being young and the old man being naked.

It wasn't until we moved that the safe space thing reset.

Agreed, but the "safe space" feeling did come back.

HOME is ruined, not her life. While important, it isn't her entire life.

True but required moving. They might not have that opportunity

Also If I had to guess I'm thinking guy on ambien or something like that. 40 - 50 is pretty old for an active criminal statistics wise and the fact he didn't attack either of them suggests he wasn't there for freaky time. Also that he just acted like it was no big deal. Even a burglar getting caught in the act would probably react in way that would be obvious etc

They didn't mention if he actually took anything just that he broke in.

Well, you would be absolutely wrong my friend. I sincerely hope that I'll never have to use a firearm against another human being, but I can assure you that if my safety or especially the safety of my family is threatened I will respond with as much force as necessary to stop the threat.

If an unknown person breaks into your home in the middle of the evening and is naked on top of that there really isn't any other logical assumption to make other than that person is there to do harm. That being the case I am not waiting until he/she kills a family member before I act. The scenario we are discussing isn't on a public street it is in your home in the middle of the night and the person standing naked in your home has gotten there by forced entry. I have no problem at all if your response is to try and talk to him and find out what his problem is. However there is a good chance by doing so you'll give him the opportunity to do harm to you or your family. Once again, middle of the night, naked, forced entry into a HOME. If you have a problem with me or anyone else using force against an intruder in this scenario I can only say it's a good thing you aren't making the laws in this country. If you were, the criminals would have open season on us.

Also, if you note in my post I said that chances are I wouldn't have to shoot because it Great Dane would likely have stopped the threat immediately. Yes, I added a little humour about saving ammo and the dog using the intruder as a chew toy. But,  in my home the reason I have a fence, exterior lighting, dead bolts and a large dog is so HOPEFULLY I'LL NEVER NEED TO USE MY FIREARM. If a person gets through all of that my firearm is my very last line of defense. And is they got through all that and they are still in my home it is then 100% certain that they are there to harm me.  If that is the case you can be absolutely sure that I will defend my family and myself with anything at my disposal.

My apologies, I meant no disrespect to anyone who had been a victim of a crime. The point I was making is that while this scenario was certainly scary and upsetting I think it's a little dramatic to declare one's life ruined over such an event. Thankfully she was not harmed in any way. And while this person might feel anxious and even frightened over the next few months or maybe even few years she is 17. Is her mother implying that she will never be happy, never know joy and for the rest of her time here on earth she going to be a quivering lump of jello?

There is no doubt that this event was traumatic, but there is no reason in this world why this one event should run this girls life forever.

Well, that's perfectly reasonable and understandable... But, look again at the post that the "we got a badass" pic was in reply to... Tell me he wasn't salivating over the thought of blowing someone away... It was practically pornographic in its description of the violence he'd like to inflict!

I have no problem at all with it... What I have a problem with (and only a moral objection to, not anything I'd ever want to legislate against) is people posting their torture-porn fantasies of how they'd like to kill other people in various ways... If I thought they were serious, I'd think they were all as deranged as that asshole who lured the two teens into his house just so he could shoot them in cold blood... But, I suspect most are just doing the Internet Tough Guy routine...

You're probably right. And I can also assure you that the majority of firearm owners look down on these types. I feel the same way about the asshats who promote open carry. What I know you'll find is most firearm owners are like me. We own weapons, but we don't show them off. We enjoy shooting them but sincerely dread ever having to use one in defense. However we would not hesitate to do so.

I am not paranoid, I don't think that anyone is out to get me. But I do understand that in the society we live in that there are those who will do is harm. You cannot predict when that harm might come, so the best you can do is be prepared in case it ever comes to pass.

I commented on this thread because ITG aside it seems that if anyone says that they'll protect themselves against a threat that they are immediately pounced upon as someone waiting for their chance to kill. Hell I don't even hunt, I don't want to kill anything. But I will say that I have rehearsed scenarios in my mind as to what I would do if someone posed a threat to myself or my family. I don't do this to fantasize about getting to be a hero or the chance to kill someone. I do it so I can be mentally prepared in the event the worst happens. The time to figure out what you'll do in a panic situation is not when your panicking.

So yes, I am relatively sure that in the scenario we laid out I would draw and fire on an intruder.  Chances are I'll never experience that situation, and that's fine by me, but if it happens I'll be ready to deal with it.

I do realize that... And, I'm not at all anti-gun... I'm just anti-asshole, really... I wouldn't mind seeing some reasonable restrictions put in place, like universal background checks, so as to close the private seller loophole... (Yes, private sellers have no way to do checks currently, but that could be opened up to allow it, or something...) It would also be nice if we had better mental healthcare in place and an effective way to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable... But, when it comes to stuff like banning certain types of guns, I don't support that nonsense at all...

And, I have no problem with guns being used in self-defense or defense of others... I just don't think people should be looking forward to such uses... There's a difference between being prepared for the worst and looking forward to being able to kill people with impunity... (I'm also not particularly fond of some of the applications of "stand your ground" type laws, which seem of iffy justification as far as true self-defense goes... Like that asshole in Texas who shot the hooker he hired after she refused to have sex with him... That's not self-defense... No, I don't think anyone should have the right to kill someone who is fleeing from you in order for you to recover $150 even if they did steal it from you...)

We are in agreement here. I'm as big of a 2nd amendment supporter as there is and I have no problems with strong background checks or restrictions on private sales. However I don't believe that these help much to prevent illegal use of firearms as those using them for crime generally have black market access to them. But there is no reason in the world why we shouldn't make it difficult for someone who shouldn't have a firearm.

I think the real issue we have is on the mental health front. Until we find away to identify those who are unstable the mad killings aren't going to end guns or no guns. Find do make their goals easier, but a can of gasoline and a match can do massive damage as well. I don't know what the answer is, but I would sure rather work with you to try and find a solution instead of arguing.
