Umm, those aren't firearms.  They look like old artillery shells.  If they're actually live rounds, I'd worry about it, but I don't think the cops would be this casual if that was the case.  British Farkers, how are these firearms?

yup... not a single firearm in all those pictures.  My guess is they are all dummy shells, even the missile.

If they aren't live, and they don't look it, why are the Brits wetting their pants over shell casings? There's no threat. jeez, what idiots.

The missile looks like an early wire guided anti tank missile, any guesses on the model?

They don't look live to me. No fuses in the noses and the bases appear empty, so they look completely demilitarized. Essentially sections of steel pipe. And the blue nose on the "missile? Yeah, that makes it a plastic mock-up used for training ground and aircrew. It's not a real missile.

The missile looks like a sub scale Sparrown air to air missile, but it's too small to be air to air. It says "Air Force" on it, but it's size seems more suited to an anti tank missile...

Police say that surrendering unwanted, unlicensed weapons avoids the risk of them being used to commit crime.

I did not see anything there that would be useful in committing most crimes.  "Give me the money or I shall drop this artillery shell" just isn't much of a threat.

There's not a single firearm in that entire picture, just a bunch of bombs.  Enough bombs to blow up half of London perhaps, but still not a single gun.  You know, your country might be a bit paranoid about firearms, if you are more worried about the two or three this guy may have had, than all of that other stuff.

I disagree.  Some of those are artillery shells, and pretty huge.  They looked like 155mm or larger.  Of course, they all look like empty casings, but you could probably take some toes off if your victim isn't wearing sturdy shoes.  And don't get me started on all that rust, probably covered in tetanus.  I expect charges related to possession of WMDs with that amount of germ warfare agents.

Every weapon is prohibited in the UK - you are not allowed to defend yourself there. And in case of a home invasion you had better not hurt the invader as it is you who will be arrested. No lie. Stories in the UK press about that. Only thing you're allowed to have sharp is a blunted kitchen knife, no point, rounded end only.

Yup, which is why the UK is so much safer a place than is the USA.

(Actually, the violent crime rate in the UK is about twice that of the USA.)

Japan has a ban on firearms and the like, and they started cracking down harder on the Yakuza post 2002 or so. Instead the Yakuza started using swords in some cases. Nothin' like hacking a man's jaw off with a sword to wake you up.

Wait, what do the criminals in the UK use then?

Hey, at least the Brits managed to use an actual English word for guns this time. I'm surprised they didn't make up some nonsense term, like Brindyblowsters, or something.
