Dear PedHouse Forum,

I never thought this would happen to me, but last summer I worked in Colonial Williamsburg, and....

Good. Now, let's see the US States do away with statutes of limitation on the sexual abuse of a child.

Historical child...

So what,... they molested Anne Frank?

This is not a repeat of all of the 80's.

Yup.  Somewhere over the Pacific.

How the fark do you prove allegations of a sex crime that took place decades ago in court? Isn't it just he said, she said at that point?

Probably only in the sense that it highlighted the crime and made people pay more attention to it. There was recently a big raid on paedophiles, so it could be related.

If you read the uncensored version of her diary Anne Frank was a pretty horny girl.

The Boy Scouts are going through their records for complaints of child sex abuse and turning them over to law enforcement.

i was going to ask about exactly this... is there no statute of limitations for these kinds of crimes in the UK? seems like it would be really hard to prove after decades.

Apparently the UK was a pretty rapey place in the 70s.

Think of the children!

(But not like that, pervert)

But to answer your question, sex crimes, like hate crimes, are important enough that normal rules of proof and evidence no longer apply.  A victim's claim that the crime occurred is sufficient, with no need for physical evidence and other witnesses.

I read the autobiography of an adult child pr0n survivor from the UK. When she finally was in the place where she wanted to go after her main abuser (step father) the police told her they couldn't help her because there wasn't enough evidence. He was the guy behind the camera, so he was never on film. She had to wear a wire and confront him, and get him to confess. Which she did. He went to prison, over 20 years later.

Ballsy lady. Good, but very difficult read. I normally have a strong stomach for sick shiat, but this book took me nearly 6 months to finish. I kept having to put it down (throw it across the room) and walk away:

In the UK a Select Committee is a group of MPs that hold regular hearings in whatever area they cover, in this case Culture, Media and Sport. Their job is to question and hold to account the government department and government ministers that covers those areas. Whittingdale is a critic of the BBC, as many Conservatives are, and they come under his committee and he probably won't be happy that they threw his name in the article, although most other papers reporting on this case put his name in the headline so the BBC actually went easy on him.

Equally hard as proving a sex crime only ten years ago, which is MI's limitation on most sexual charges.  There is no limitation for 1st degree rape, MI.  I hope the is pics, because they can't really deny photos.

In before all the defenders of Roman Polanski come in and argue how these two men don't deserve to go to prison because it's been 40 years and it was a different time.

Ok, any time now, Polanski defenders.  Waiting.  Whenever you're ready.

Is historical child sex abuse one of those crimes where theres zero evidence and all the potentially guilty parties are long since deceased?  But hey lets find some deep pockets liable even when they cant defend themselves?

Wow.  And good for her.

But her case is not typical, in that there was evidence that a crime had even occurred (the videotapes), and a confession from the accused.

I'm sure you know that the Polanski defenders don't support most child molesters, just Polanski.  In fact, they tend to be the harshest critics of the Catholic church.  Go figure.

/another difference is that Polanski was charged and convicted shortly after he raped the girl.  No statute of limitations on skipping bail.

How do you defend yourself (or get a conviction) after almost 40 years?  I think a lot of our statutes of limitations may need adjusted, but I think this is a bit much.

Hope there's some actual evidence that it happened.  You shouldn't be able to put people in prison just because someone claims they were assaulted, no matter how long ago and what kind of assault it was.

You don't.  You're farked.

If it's a civil case, you're even more farked.  Minimize the damage, pay up before trial.

(or get a conviction) after almost 40 years?

Put alleged victim on the stand to cry.  Nothing more is needed.

It probably means means I'm a bad person but when I skimmed the headline I saw it as hysterical child sex abuse.

Hell...one please!
