Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, possession of hollow-point bullets and receiving stolen property.

At first I thought that second charge was a typo, but it appears to actually be the name of the statute.

Nope. Looks like felon in possession of a stolen weapon.

"Unlawful possession of a weapon" and "certain persons not to have weapons" seems rather redundant, though I suppose you could be a non-felon carrying a weapon in NJ and just be charged with "unlawful possession". Either way, this guy is pretty well screwed.

Stolen gun?

Why didn't the original owner shoot the thief?

He should probably prepare his anus, there may be mandatory minimums in his future.

If you can disable the weapon with a lighter on the trigger, is it really dangerous?

The "militia" clause emphasizes the individual right to keep and bear arms by explaining one of its most important purposes. The militia clause does not limit the right.

Bummer. You skipped the best part...that "well-regulated" means "works like a clock."

Was it loaded with silver bullets?  It might be a necessity, depending on what kind of child it is.

Wait, possession of hollowpoints is illegal in New Jersey? What the fark? Do they seriously want everyone in their state shooting roundball? Do they WANT overpenetration?

Blue states aren't known for having gun laws based on fact or reason.

The state legislature has wisely banned civilian ownership of cop-killer, Teflon-coated, armor-piercing hollow-point bullets that can penetrate steel doors.

Gun owner here.  Glad this thief/convicted felon got caught.  He's not only a criminal in so many ways, he's a stupid criminal (which most of them are).  On top of that, this is one of the crappiest 9mm that is on the market.  I'd be afraid to shoot one considering what I've heard about them.
