Yep.  But her problem is that he's a funny man...but he's no comedian.

Saw it last night. She is a straight-up stud. The crowd lost their freaking minds

Still doesn't beat Kenny Blankenship's Extreme Elimination Challenge for entertainment value..

Huh-huh. Salmon ladder.

How do you know she isn't dating another lady gymnast?

Why is he the luckiest? I don't understand. He's downright fugly.

2014-07-16 10:41:32 AM
There's something weird about her body.

I know, sharp knees and all.

2014-07-16 10:41:49 AM
I want to have her babies.

Because they won't shut the fark up about her boyfriend, who is also a ANJ performer. Haha who got disco'd this year on the first course. He's one of the only ones to beat stage III.

They're America Ninja Warrior's "Darling Couple". It's hilarious because it looks like they've obviously been broken up for months but are still hamming it up for the camera.

This girl was crazy talented but she had the voice of a young Kerri Strug, which was hilarious.

2014-07-16 10:45:36 AM
My roommate and I watched her do it last night.  Impressive and she definitely has a great body but that voice...high and squeaky...

/not that it would stop me from asking her out
//my shyness would do that

Your apartment is probably sticky today then.

Kinda like Hunger Games, huh?

I'm a fan of this show, I liked Ninja Warrior on Spike back in the day, it just so happens I was watching this episode.
As she went through this stage I said she'd fail at the salmon ladder or the giant teeter-totter loop things (final gif on the site I can't remember what they called them).
I said she just wasn't big enough to reach from the first hanging loop to the second, but hot-damn she just jumped right across like it was no issue. Massively muscled dudes just ran out of steam by that point and couldn't hang on. Her run was REALLY impressive to me. Kudos! Anyone would have difficulty and she made it look easy. Seriously fun to watch.

When we watched this at our house and he climbed up to celebrate with her, we all thought he was going to propose.

I have to say, she looked pretty good swinging from that pole.

Too bad regular Ninja Warrior isn't on in the states anymore (or is it?)

That was an extremely impressive display of skill and talent. Kudos to her.

This. I thought she *might* get the salmon ladder but was sure the loopy arm cross thing would finish her. Once she got passed that I knew she'd get it because the pole thing takes gymnastic skills and the spider climb is all legs. Effing incredible run on her part!!

It was on NBC last night.

What, that Americanized rip-off of something that's been big in Japan for quite some time now?

She's awesome!  But I don't understand the "only 100 lb" spin.  Lighter is better for this competition where you hang from your hands for most of it.

I am glad they don't have a "lady's" course, like they do in Japan.  Though the women's course in Japan is really more agility based.

I think it's her "thigh gap"...seriously it's like 5-6 inches. Strange

Is it just me, or are American Ninja Warrior courses way easier than Ninja Warrior ones?

2014-07-16 11:07:39 AM
Her performance on that course was nothing short of spectacular.

Nicely done!

2014-07-16 11:07:43 AM
Something about this course seems odd to me. In the Japanese one they basically fly through the initial jump pads, but some of the Americans jump from one pad to another like frogs on a lily pad. Are the pads further apart or do Americans just suck at being ninja warriors?

I think it's pretty impressive what all of these people can do.  That said, I enjoyed the goofiness of Takeshi's Castle more than this.

Wipeout is farking hilarious to watch. Every time I flip that show on, I always have a "I didn't know the human body could do that!" moment.

smd31: high and squeaky

That's how I like my girls. High and squeaking!

2014-07-16 11:13:30 AM
That girl is awesome.

The commentators, OTOH, need to be taken out in the alley and clubbed like baby seals. "She's only 100 lbs!!!" Who farking cares if she weighs 40 lbs? Your weight doesn't really determine how string you are. Not only that, but lighter would mean that she doesn't have as much mass to move. And yeah, I get that she doesn't have "much wingspan", but find a new farking term. Those guys were farking annoying, are they like that for every competitor?

I really liked that she had a good time, even with stopping to wave at the crowd or throw out a 'thank you'. Good for her. She's going places, obviously. Hopefully the kitchen, where she belongs, but that's a "place".

(Just kidding!!)

Not easier.. The article is dead on.. The American courses are famous for the fact people have such a ridiculously hard time finishing them.

/and it has nothing to do with the fat Americans thing..

I could do that "salmon ladder" using just my penis...

Not really, just wanted to use that line at some point.

Gymkata 2?

2014-07-16 11:15:20 AM
But then along comes a five-foot-tall, 100-pound gymnast. And she completely kicks the course's ass. Like with feats of strength.

Young women often do exceptionally well with climbing, an athletic activity usually perceived as requiring significant amounts of upper body strength. The reality is knowing how to engage those muscles and having great body control are drastically more important, which you have to have for gymnastics. Add to this her lower center of gravity and light weight, and she has tremendous advantage in keeping her frame to a wall... and does not surprise me she is able to get through those challenges. Only issue is her height, causing her to need to use more strength on certain movements.

Excellent job through there, though.

Kacy Catanzaro? Sounds like her boyfriend settled.

I've never watched this show, but I noticed there is a timer running during the course, which indicates that your performance against other competitors is based on how quickly you can finish the course, so why is she taking several seconds after every stage to point at the crowd? It seems like she is penalizing herself.

glad i watched on mute.  her light weight may be an advantage.  i've always been able to do a freakish number of chin ups, and i think it's because i'm light, not because i'm strong.

Because most never finish these semi final courses. So usually the further you make it determines if you make it to the finals. In the earlier rounds time is more important because more people actually finish the course
