So far, I've liked all the new Weird Al songs, but have discovered I hated the originals they were based on. People actually listened to that Robin Thicke piece of crap? Seriously? Loved it. I especially loved that he mentioned "could care less". I'm tired of people using that phrase, thinking that it means "couldn't care less". I'm really tired of them trying to justify it by saying "by I mean it in a sarcastic way". Nope. That doesn't work.

Beautifully animated, too.

This has been true for me for years.  He typically extracts any ignorance, misogyny (and misandry when present) and banality from a song and injects humor, intelligence and real creativity.  Some of his originals are just as good.

Party in the CIA - brilliant!  The original - insipid.

Even when he covers a classic, he tends to do it in a way that the original songwriter likes and respects.

he's releasing 8 videos over 8 days.  so far ive seen "Word Crimes", "Foil" and "Tacky".  I found them all pretty enjoyable, as videos go.  My only problem with Tacky is that Happy is maybe the worst earworm I've ever encountered that wasnt purely a commercial jingle.  It is still stuck in my head but the video was thoroughly enjoyable.

I just watched it with the sound off. It comes off desperate instead of sexy. At first, I was liking the topless chicks, but after watching them march around awkwardly, duckface at the camera, and acting generally un-sexy, I got as bored with the nudity as I did halfway through watching "Showgirls".  So if his music sucks, and his videos are all like that ("edgy-lame") then WHY is he famous? I mean, if a bunch of half-naked female models can't make you seem interesting, then there's no farking hope for you.

So I watched it and thought, "Hrmm, Video is well done, I bet he's skewered the original.  But damn is that annoying sounding. How bad is the original?" So I watched Fancy.

Dear God, This "song" makes Robin Thicke's song writing look look like Mozart, his lyrics look like Shakespeare and his douchy nature seem like St. Francis in Blurred Lines.  Dear god that was vapid.  Every so often Al does a song there I admire his skill, respect his creative abilities but still don't really like.  This is the one on this album.

I don't find that nearly as annoying, probably because he does play his guitar and even sings on the chorus but I have to admit you are right.

Best thing I ever had anyone say to me about that one. "Have you hear that Shawn Mullins song Lullaby? Huh? Maybe you can sing to much to your children when they are little?"
