I live in Arizona.

I'll just buy a bottle of Michelob, add in two shots of Everclear and a squirt of Hershey Dark Chocolate syrup.

I've tried using their 'beer finder' map... but I don't even get the option to filter the beer list by 'wootstout'... it just isn't an option in the drop down...  is it an option on your map/location?

Good for you! I'll bet your parents are proud. No hate involved, but only the observation that these "specialty" hipster products pop up like pimples on a teenager and last about as long. The "aficionados" go all agog for the few months they are around and then latch onto the next whatever is being hyped. What some of them don't know is that often the same recipe is bottled with several different labels to be sold in different parts of the country.

You don't like fads. Good for you! I'll bet your parents are proud. Whenever a new fad pops up haters pop up like pimples on a teenager and last as about as long.

I have been drinking Stone for almost a decade, so no pop up fad here. It is also not bottled and sold under a different name somewhere else.

Thanks for playing and thanks for telling us what you don't like.

Be careful out there, those kids aren't going to tel themselves to get off your lawn

Yep- the search box in the upper left. When you click it, it expands and one of the options is "Filter By Beer". W00tstout is the bottom option.

I don't care if the INITIAL distribution is to only those two states, but if Stone doesn't send some of that elsewhere, they can kiss my ass on anything else they come out with.

I'm guessing their dropdown list is populated from a subset of beers found in the displayed area (select unique...) of the map... I slid the map over to Lexington, KY and found several places that seem to carry damn near everything Stone makes (Liquor Barn Ultimate Party Source, for example)... and still no wootstout option in the dropdown.

technically I'm not 'in' Kentucky (but I can see it from here)... and I was 'expecting' the rather slick looking stone beer 'finder' to function as expected and include 'special collaboration' beers without resorting to calling/emailing the distributor.

Sure! I just picked up a bottle at my local TW. I haven't visited yet, but I realized also that Socal Costcos have been stocking a lot of Stone beer lately too.

Yes, but only the big-production stuff (IPA, Pale Ale, etc) I have yet to see anything seasonal or limited-release from Stone in a Costco.

No? I'm pretty sure I've seen the  Stochasticity Project beers, the RuinTen, and one or two others. My local Costcos have a pretty decent selection of 22oz bottles (of a bunch of local and larger microbreweries) that are separate from the larger boxes of bottles.

Stone is one of the main reasons microbreweries have been able toflourish in the macrobrew-dominated world. You don't have to like their beers to recognize how influential and powerful they've been in the space.   And "reputation" doesn't mean anything if you can still get the beers you like otherwise.

For those wondering why it's got such a limited release area, Stone mentioned this on social media yesterday:   "Stone w00tStout 2.0 is one of the most difficult beers we've ever brewed. Sadly, that means we'll have a very limited release only in SoCal and Kentucky. Beer traders...GO! #wishtherewasmore"  So it sounds like it was so complicated to make, they just plumb didn't make very much of it.  Oh well, maybe Wil could post the recipe for homebrewer use.

The best craft beers have been and stillbdo come from VT years before LA started trying to make beer.
