If you could just boil down the budget to something like a grocery list or a recipe for brownies so the ladies could understand.

"Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level," Ellmers said. "Many of my male colleagues, when they go to the House floor, you know, they've got some pie chart or graph behind them and they're talking about trillions of dollars and how, you know, the debt is awful and, you know, we all agree with that." [...]

As for connecting to women specifically, Ellmers drove it home with a line that, had there been liberals in the audience, would have made the news.

"We need our male colleagues to understand that if you can bring it down to a woman's level and what everything that she is balancing in her life - that's the way to go," Ellmers said.

Jesus Christ what an asshole.

Isn't she just precious?  God bless her poor, dear, sweet heart but she's trying just so gosh darned hard, isn't she?

Too bad about her gaffe. Ellmers was the glue holding together the GOP's outreach to women

James!: If you could just boil down the budget to something like a grocery list or a recipe for brownies so the ladies could understand.

It's like balancing your household budget, and how many of the little gals can do that without their husbands' help?

Honestly, this isn't something she should worry her pretty little head about.

Ma'am, you seem to be saying that women have too much going on in their lives to be able to understand things Congress talks about.  And to this I say that, as a member of Congress who is a woman, if you don't have enough hours in the day to understand legislation, then maybe you should find another job.

Ladies dont cook these days. They sit around watching the real housewives and pinning things they pretend they would make if they ever got off their lazy arse.

And just yesterday we had a story about Dems worrying that the GOP won't say enough stupid crap between now and the November elections.  Some folks said "Just wait, the GOP can handle the stupid no problem".  And they were right.

2014-07-15 12:48:46 PM
Is it really too much to ask for a tax policy or environmental regulation to tidy itself up before I get home and perhaps give me about 30 minutes of peace and quiet before burdening me with petty little domestic problems?  I don't think it is.

2014-07-15 12:50:05 PM
FTFA: Again, if Ellmers really did say this, it's an extraordinary example of a Republican saying something that's factually wrong, offensive, tone-deaf, and politically idiotic, all at the same time.

There's a LOT of redundancy in that sentence.

2014-07-15 12:50:30 PM
Let me explain something to your tiny, lady brains.  The budget is a lot like when your husband gives you money to get groceries and you spend too much of it on lady products and not enough on the Hungry Man dinners he asked for.  Then we have a problem and somebody gets smacked around.  Do you understand now?

2014-07-15 12:50:55 PM
Please let this be a misleading headline... *scans*

We need our male colleagues to understand that if you can bring it down to a woman's level and what everything that she is balancing in her life - that's the way to go," Ellmers said.

/FFS

Ladies need something quick and simple so that they can fit it in between Making Dinner and Dying in Childbirth.

2014-07-15 12:52:59 PM
Sorry, lady, the fact that pie charts are too advanced for you is just evidence you should be nowhere near any sort of legislative authority.  It says nothing about women.

The Middle East situation is just like the Real Housewives. They need to stop bickering and have a glass of wine.

I see what you did there.

Wow... Well, at least Republicans are consistently ignorant regardless of their gender.

Bet she enjoys a firm swat on the behind from a male coworker when she's done a good job (on something simple, of course).

Ellmers got elected on one campaign promise: to repeal "Obamacare". She then got re-elected in 2012 talking about how her medical business was ruined by "Obamacare" and how she empathized with all the hard-working people in her NC district. Except, she's married to a surgeon, owns a very nice house and one on the beach, so she's nowhere close to the income level of 90% of her district. Whatever she says as a politician is what she was told to say; she could be a puppet with a speaker and I doubt you'd tell the difference between her and the puppet. This year her Democrat opponent for her House seat is Clay Akin; he won a close race with a more traditional Democrat in the primary but then the opponent died of a heart attack right after the election. She'll probably win easily; NC's Democratic Party appears to still be in shock from the last two state elections where they got washed out of the state legislature on a tide of lies, anger, bigotry and racism.

Others suggested avoiding talk about rape would be a key part of a successful rhetorical strategy.

I mean, someone has to explain this to them. Think about that.

"Hey guys? Not talking about rape is a good idea."

She was hoping for something more like an apple or blueberry pie not a breakdown of capital expenditures over the last fiscal year.

Sounds like she needs to improve her pie skills.  But like you said, I wouldn't take that to mean all women are bad at pie.

I'm going to try to mount a defense of Ellmers.

She's an idiot.  As an idiot, she's used to being confused by large words and numbers above 20.  Somewhere along the line, as an unconscious defense mechanism against her ignorance, she mistakenly concluded that her confusion is due to being a woman, rather than being an idiot.  Therefore, she assumes that the problem is with women, rather than with idiots.

Thank you, Ms. Ellmers, for reminding the GOP that my little lady-brain can't handle giant abstract concepts like the economy, or environmental issues, or social issues like marriage equality.  I feel really relieved when men take the time to talk down to my level so that I don't get confused by all these big important things!

Here is a chart for her.

Yeah, well, there's something broken in the brains of modern republicans.  It's not always the same thing, but it's always something.  By and large inferiority complexes(and associated superiority complexes) are the most common ones.

She then disrobed for the bukkake party, for feminism.

Quibble with the word salad she spewed out all you want, her central premise, that the broad platitudes (government bad, taxes bad, debt bad) that currently pass for GOP policy statements aren't going to be effective in appealing to women, is solid advice. Democrats frame their issues in a way to make them more personal to women all the time. Take out the words Higher and Down and there is nothing controversial. Add in that we have no idea what tone she used, body language she employed, other contextual clues there might have been, or even know if these were the words she used, and you have absolutely nothing.

Concern trolling is never attractive, regardless of who's doing it. If you are busy bemoaning the fact that your story doesn't have enough facts to be a real story, then you don't have a farking story.

F*ck, marry, kill: shiites, Sunnis, Kurds. If we can answer this important question, Iraq will be solved.

Holy shiat, she really said that!  Thanks, GOP, for helping women seem as dumb as you think they are.
