Can you imagine the pushback from the herp-a-derpers if TR was trying to establish National Parks today?

It's incredibly ironical that so many people who advocate as "environmentalists" actually know nothing about the environment. Example 1: The "OH NOES STRIP MINING" doomsayer. I mean, seriously. Do you know anything about farming, subby? Do you think farmers are evil, earth-destroying villains? No, of course not. Farmers are heroes. Farmers were created by God himself on eighth day, when he looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." God's own caretakers of the Earth, that's farmers.

And what do farmers do, subby? Huh? No, I get it, you're not going to answer because you're starting to understand how stupid you now look. So here it is: They till the earth. Till it, as in, "dig it up." "Turn it over." "Dig it out." The till it over, and over, and over again every year. And what happens if they don't till it? Hm? Not going to answer that either, huh? Right, because you know as well as I do that if they don't till the earth, the earth won't produce food. Which in turn means the earth can't support life, which in turn means God's plan isn't being carried out to fruition.

Now, think carefully here: How is "tilling" any different from "mining"?

Maybe you learned something today, subby. I hope so.

Can you imagine TR's response? They'd be lucky if all he did was give them double middle fingers and did what he was going to do anyway.

The land is still held and managed by the state as a park.

I think Teddy's only concern that it be a park, with no consideration as Feds over State.

Of course, that's takes all the trolly fun out of subby's headline, but I'm sure it won't change the comments.

It's a national park, that spans Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. It's governed by the U.S. Park Service, not the state of Wyoming.

Intelligence tests are needed for potential candidates and potential voters, both. Sorry; I know it's rude, but pretending the window-licking, neckbearded hillbillies are grown-up enough to know what's best for anyone - including themselves - isn't exactly working out.

From the more in-depth article linked to in the National Parks Traveler article:

If elected, Haynes would send federal government agencies a certified letter and invite them to attend a meeting in which he will explain his plan. He said they must be gone by January 2015, when he would takes office.

"Then in whichever county they attempt to have any official activity, they will be arrested for impersonating a law enforcement officer in Wyoming," he said.
...

All the lands would be up for lease for mining, drilling and grazing, but the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality would set priorities to protect what Haynes described as the "personality of Wyoming," such as beautiful forests.
The state would first consider permits that had been awaiting federal approval on lands with current energy development, he said.

Down the road, the state may put the national parks and monuments up for lease, Haynes said.

"It depends on the need and the national defense situation," he said. "Those would be last on the list."

So...the Fark headline is 100% accurate, then. But why bother to read anything before offering an idiotic statement.

2014-07-15 03:00:02 PM
There's no way Utah would let anyone else accomplish this first. They've been trying to "claim eminent domain" on federal lands for years, and then they plan to sell mining and drilling rights. Bryce and Zion Parks are the first ones in their sights.

He might be on to something... grazing in yellowstone would lead to a lot of fresh, tasty beef stew.

The dipshiats probably think they can move to the ISS if everything goes haywire and the volcano blows.

Just a hint, 3/4 of the US would become a dead zone in just a few days if it ever does go.

More stupid. This is a candidate for governor who's not just "speaking hypothetically" about seizing federal land and arresting federal law enforcement agents, but is making it an official part of his campaign platform.

2014-07-15 03:08:13 PM
alright, these GOP'ers are getting a little out of hand with their crazy ideas and delusions of coherence, i'm starting to think that someone (perhaps Obama) has drugged the GOP and is forcing them to be the idiots they are.

seriously, I'm 41 now and perhaps i just didn't pay close enough attention or maybe having FARK is exposing  me to the derp but, has there always been people in politics that are this mind numbingly stupid?

OK so if he gets elected, he can't actually do any of those things. so he's either stupid or delusional (or a calculating lier). why would a anybody consider voting for such a person? To stick to the libs?

I fear for the country when I realize I'm so jaded by the GOP/Tea Party that this platform registers as possibly normal for them.

You're probably right about both. Sigh. Maybe a computer that acts independently and makes purely rational decisions? An incorruptible one? A magic one, maybe? Oh, I've definitely disqualified myself now.

These are the times when I think we should let give one state permission to go full steam on these gop/tea-party polices.  No regulation, no over-site, no federal taxes in or out of the state and see what happens in 8 years.  When the state crashes into toxic wasteland filled with the dumbest, poorest citizens in the Union; maybe, the rest of the US will finally understand that these people should not be elected to dog catcher and these polices do not work.

I know you're right, but still, my mind works some time to figure if there's a way to create an extremely basic civics test, such as a dumbed down test for citizenship, that wouldn't disenfranchise specific demographics besides people intent on not knowing how their government works.
