Captain Spalding heard her say, "How all those soldiers got onto my windshield I'll never know."

Gee...a legible copy or transcript would have been nice.

We report...you believe.

Would you disparage them, or politely ask them to leave?

"This is real, and it happened, and I just don't want it to affect another military spouse".

There is no surer red flag for "This is not real, it never happened, and I made the whole thing up as a desperate cry for attention" than this quote right here.

I see no reason to be polite.  The Third Amendment guarantees my right to refuse soldiers who wish to quarter on my windshield.

I don't know what soldiers quartering on your windshield would involve, but I am sure somewhere there is porn of it.

Since the site could not be kind enough to actually show us this "letter", I found it somewhere else -

"So I noticed your 'I love my soldier' decal. I'm sure he is your [sic] 'hero' too right? I feel really bad for you and how blind you must be to what is really going on in this country. First off he is NOT your hero, Your 'man' is a pawn being used in the immoral game of wholesale murder. If you're aware of the real reasons America goes to war (corporate profits) and the role 'soldiers' play in making such immoral acts possible. The last thing you would label a soldier is a hero, There is nothing heroic about blindly following immoral orders from a undeserved paycheck, especially when such orders involve the unnecessary murder of others!!! It's people like you and your 'soldier' who are destructing our country, shame on you b****! You're lucky I didn't slash your damn tires!!"

I would have a harder time believing this if a family friend hadn't taken to leaving notes on the cars of people with Obama bumper stickers helpfully letting them know their car had been vandalized so they wouldn't look stupid.

One would think that someone who has such macroscopic take on the vagaries of for-profit warmongering would be better educated hence a better writer.

I'm going with false flag, or an impressionable community college student.

I respect soldiers because they are people, not because they are soldiers. I haven't met any Pat Tillman's (his motive are for a different discussion) but the soldiers I have met are soldiers because they needed a career, medical insurance for their family or just a job.

Wearing camo around the airport does not entitle you to preferential treatment. Being married to someone who wears camo does not make you any more special than being married to someone who works a regular 9-5.

A similar letter received backlash in the paper and on social media

Citation needed.

I have a low enough opinion of human nature that I am perfectly willing to believe that this is an AW fiancée. But if this has happened before in the same community, then I am also perfectly willing to believe that some refugee from the fark politics tab decided to play IRL Crusader.

You'd be surprised what people are reduced to when they don't have spell-check handy. Personally, I'm rather surprised it's as literate as it is, especially since you can watch the spelling and grammar degrade later on as the writer seems to work himself into a nice fit of foaming rage.

Either it's a liberal arts major finally snapping and having a breakdown after one too many soldiers come in expecting special treatment at the Starbucks he'll be spending the rest of his working years at, or a really clever false flag with a lot more care taken to look real than a James O'Keefe "exclusive."

FarkingReading:

In most of these "I disapprove of your choice of spouse / lifestyle" notes I would agree with you. Pure ultra-whiny drama queeenery, grow the fark up, (on both sides, note writer, and precious snowflake). In this particular one though, there was a threat of violence and property damage. That, I think, should be taken a little more seriously. Have opinions all you want, but don't make violent threats. In this one case, hopefully they catch the douchebag who wrote this and prosecute.

Is there something inherent in the soldier-spouse lifestyle that turns them crazy or are the crazy ones just abnormally attracted to the conditions?

2014-07-15 10:46:15 AM

Agnes Gonxha's Confidant: Wearing camo around the airport does not entitle you to preferential treatment.

Untrue. According to most airport personnel, if you dress in camo and try hiding in the trees just beyond the runways or the hedges outside the main terminal, you may be a winner of all kinds of special attention.

A lot of them get married really young and start families early.  Now factor in that they are probably stationed away from friends and family, dad's deployed, mom is alone with the kids for months, and living on a low salary.

Yeah, quite a few go bonkers.

Upon further investigation, it will be discovered that this woman is experiencing money problems.

Under the assumption it is real, I woul dnot give it any thought to a person who doe snot have th eintestinal fortitude to tell you to your face.  That is why I think bumperstickers are for intellectual cowards.  They can only state their opinions on a bumper of a car.  Allowing for a quick getaway and no confrontation.
