No one is impressed, intimidated or worried about North Korea throwing their missiles money into the ocean in regular public temper tantrums.  If that's what they want to do, go for it.

/we should pick a few of them out of the sea and publicly display them, criticizing their shoddy and primitive construction.
//just because it would piss them off even more.

It's better/worse than that.  He visited them FIRST.  It's always been protocol for the Chinese leader to visit NK THEN SK when doing regional tours.

I'm certain many North Koreans will be free of their mortal coils before you.

That would be the most one sided fight in history.  Probably faster than the liberation of Kuwait, to.

NK appears to be outliving it's usefulness for China

My company does some business in South Korea. I talk to them nearly every day and have been there three times.

No civilian including ex-military I have ever met in SK pays the slightest attention to NK, the DPRK other than people who still have relatives there. Fewer every year as they die off. If you ask you will find that the attitude of the average SK business man is "bring it on" we will totally kill them. They have 100% confidence that any warfare that occurs will be totally one sided.

When NK does something to get attention like a missile test you won't see it on the TV there. More likely the SK people you know will find it out from you than other means.

They actually do like SK a bit more and are would prefer them to lead if Korea ever unites into a single nation. Probably getting too much a headache from all of Best Korea's sabre rattling.

To China that's not a bug that's a feature. Given what a complete sucker western media is for whipping up hysteria about anything NK does it is extremely convenient for China. I guarantee you any time NK does something "newsworthy" like a missile test or arresting some western journalist, anything China actually does is pushed nearly completely out of the media. It works every time.

North Korea has the best propaganda posters.

On chinasmack, the posts about North Korea tend to be pretty funny.

South Korea would be a nice addition to the Ryukyu Island chain...
