I say keep the name and make it into a scary theme park.  It IS Orlando, after all.

FTFA:
But after the February arrest of his son, 76-year-old Fleetwood Peeples Jr. on child-pornography and molestation charges, a number of women came forward saying they had been molested by the elder Peeples when they were children.

The Orlando Sentinel published an article about the allegations against Fleet Peeples Sr. on July 6. It relied on the accounts of five women, ranging in age from 42 to 68, who said they'd been molested by Peeples at different points from the mid-1950s to the mid-'70s.

The Sentinel has since been contacted by five more women who said they, too, were molested by the elder Peeples. They include a librarian, a secretary, a retired lawyer and a pastor.

The number of accusers is in the double digits.  It's not exactly a knee-jerk reaction to one allegation.

The guy died 21 years ago, and just now you remembered the abuse from 40-60 years ago?
That's farked up!  The accusations will be nearly impossible to prove or disprove at this point, so the deceased's legacy is destroyed regardless of whether or not its true.

Still allegations. Allegations, no matter how many people is not a conviction in this country.

The vote, which came with no debate, capped a week in which the city moved quickly to distance itself from Peeples.

Which is hard to do, since he is Fleet.

Because then people don't have to live next to a park named for someone who farked up their childhood?  The last person who needs your white knight charge is a dead rapist.

True, but this was also not a trial.

It was a vote on whether to take someone's name off of a park. They could do that for any reason they thought was sufficient. In fact, they could do it for no reason at all.

We have a road that runs through downtown called the East-West Expressway.  It's fun when giving directions.

"First, get on the East-West Expressway."

"In which direction?"

"Well, to get to X you should probably get on the East East-West Expressway..."

Did you see the news upstream of this? His son was busted with a bunch of old child porn. 76 year old Fleet jr. was at his storage locker and fell down. The cops came and noticed he had pictures of naked children in the storage locker. The cops estimated the porn stash was 30 or 40 years old.

When news of this got out the stories about Fleet sr. started surfacing. One of the victims is a public defender. These aren't repressed memories, they're just stories that never got told.

I didn't tell anyone about being molested by a family friend until I was 50.

Fleet Peeples is the nicest dog park I've ever been to. Huge wooded trails, open fields, and a lake where dogs can swim. Sucks they're closing it down over some bullshiat allegations.

Yeah. The important thing is the guy's reputation. All the (former) kids he diddled should be more respectful of that.

Dead rapist?  Thanks for proving my point.  Guilty until proven innocent, right?  Just like your great grandfather the goat farker.

Yeah, the guy probably did it.  That might explain why is son is farked up.  Too bad none of these victims had the courage to come forward when he was alive.  Did they wait 20 years to make sure he wasn't coming back as a zombie?
