Those who flout a ban could face fines and points on their licences.

What if the person smoking in the car isn't the driver?

In Nova Scotia, too. Since 2008. I think some people have been given fines for it, too.

I was in a bar last year when I heard three women talking with heavy accents.

"Excuse me, but are you ladies from Scotland?" I asked them.

"It's Wales, laddy," one of them answered.

"Excuse me," I replied, "are you whales from Scotland?"

I don't remember anything after that.

It is illegal in Maine and has been since at least 2007.

My dad was a chain smoker who refused to roll down the window more than 1/4-inch when driving and smoking. Every year we'd drive from southern Ohio to North Carolina, him smoking the whole way.

As an adult, if even a small amount of cigarette smoke gets caught in my inhalation, it causes an involuntary spasm in the back of my throat. The feeling is unpleasant, like getting zapped by a static charge. Nothing horrible, but not something you want to experience unexpectedly.

One of my biggest pet peeves is walking behind someone, and then suddenly getting a face full of their exhaled smoke when I'm not expecting it.

This is ridiculous. Chances are, if the parent smokes in the car they will be smoking in the home as well. Besides, when I used to smoke in the car, I'd crack the window a couple of inches and it would get sucked right out.

Not as sad as someone who cannot distinguish between "there" and "their".

People in burning buildings sure didn't fare well, and I don't think they lit the floorboards and tried to inhale them.

I'm not sure what year they passed it, but it's illegal to smoke with anyone under 18 in the car, in my county.  Hasn't yet gone statewide, but it's not like you can drive across the county line here anyway.  I know there are several other states where it's illegal too, but the age-of-smoke-inhalation is lower than 18 in some cases.

Waiters and waitresses who worked in smoke-filled bars for like 40 years had a slightly higher incidence of lung diseases, was all that was found, as I recall.

Most of the second-hand smoke hysteria is pure bullshiat.

However, people with asthma should never have to breathe the smoke, so I am okay with most public buildings banning it, even though I do smoke.

Smoking after sex?

Why wait?

The dimple right above the tramp stamp on a woman's back is an excellent spot to set an ashtray.

No, no it doesn't.  I take it you've never been a kid in a car with a cracked window and somebody smoking.  THAT'S what sucks.  I loved my mom, but absolutely hated her in those momements.

Yes, it does. You have to actually blow the smoke towards the window and it goes right out.

Your kids could still smell it.  I'm not saying it killed them.  But they smelled it.

This.  Ask any non-smoking passenger whether that smoke was all making it out the window.  Even with the window ALL the way down, that was never the case in my uncle's car.
