Maybe I'm missing something, but the picture captioned "Supporters of Israel descended on a federal building to show support as renewed fighting takes place between Israelis and Palestinians" looks awfully pro-Palestinian.

Around 5:20 p.m., sheriff's officials said four men drove down Wilshirein a truck with a Palestinian flag when a pro-Israel protester grabbed the flag and stepped on it. The men then got out of the truck and confronted the group, using the wooden sticks holding their flags to hit demonstrators

Bloody children. The lot of them. Hero tag can take the rest of the day off on this one.

The important things to remember are that the people in this story are perfectly representative of each and every member of their respective groups, and this incident perfectly encapsulates the entirety of the reality on the ground 6,000 miles away.

// actually, there is something eerily fitting about a conflict between supporters of Israel and supporters of Palestine being broken up by an American firing a shot...

Authorities on Monday were trying to sort out a tense clash between supporters of Palestinians and pro-Israeli demonstrators during a rally in Westwood that prompted a federal agent to fire his weapon.

Here in Salt Lake, they LIKE to shoot, if this had happened here, there would have been 10 guys opening fire. Of course, only if it were a dog or a mountain lion.

Thank you. That was driving me crazy.

Usually, it's easy. "Effect" is usually a noun, and "affect" is usually a verb. There are a handful of exceptions, though, which complicate matters.

B...b...but hundreds American military personnel weren't killed by a truck bomb so it's kind of not based in reality. Hollywoodish.

This has been long been my suggestion for the Middle East.  Draw a line on the map around it, call it a "Sacrifice Zone", and then just ignore what happens there.  Let all the religious wackos fight amoungst themselves there as opposed to in the rest of the world.

For once Canadians are in the vanguard.

Not sure if this was greenlit:

Police have blamed violence outside Palestine House in Mississauga, Ont., which sent a Jewish Defence League protester to hospital, on both members of the JDL and supporters of Palestine House.

[Canada doesn't consider the JDL a terrorist organization.]

JDL demonstrators were protesting the abduction and subsequent slaying of three Israeli teens on Thursday, chanting and carrying signs condemning Hamas.

Police say the two sides pushed and shoved each other as the protest quickly turned violent. One person was taken to hospital with a head injury and a few others sustained minor injuries.

For their sake and that of their homelands. I hate plastic Paddies. Ireland would have been spared untold misery if they'd just gone away.

Actually, plastic Palis and suburban Zionists are a lot more dangerous. Nobody ever mistook Jesus for an Irishman.

Also notice how the woman in the article holds a sign which captures the spirit of the Palestinian leadership perfectly. Israel's non-existence. only "Palestine" from river to sea.
