What is it with teenagers these days having no sense of where the line is?  When I was a kid, everybody KNEW that something like that was not cool.  Soap windows, throw corn, drink and smoke in the woods sure, but endangering someone's life is going WAY too far.

State police arrested four young friends in an I-80 rock throwing incident. Police say 18-year-old Brett Lahr and 17-year-old Dylan Lahr of New Columbia, and two unidentified juvenile friends are facing charges after they were seen returning to the scene.

The boys are facing felony charges of aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor charges including recklessly endangering another person.

The four are facing charges for the incident late Thursday night, when a rock was thrown from an overpass onto Interstate-80, injuring a passenger in a vehicle below. The victim, 52-year-old Sharon Budd of Uniontown, Ohio remains in critical condition.

Brett Lahr and one of the juveniles were arraigned by on call District Judge Lori Hackenberg. Brett Lahr is now in Union County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. Dylan Lahr was released on supervised bail. Preliminary hearings for both boys are set for Thursday before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch in Mifflinburg. There were reports of several rocks hitting a number of vehicles that night.

Sorry, but I'm likely older than you and I vividly recall your (our?) generation.  We had no such sense because we did the EXACT same thing on the I-90 Tollway in Franklin Park, though we were not nearly as adventurous as the kids in Melrose Park who rolled logs off the overpass onto cop cars.

Exactly; there's no way for the body to shut down to avoid getting hit by a rock, unlike pregnancy from rape

I live in the Detroit area too, this crap has been happening around here for decades until they fenced all the footpaths over freeways. I still always change lanes if I see people standing on an overpass.

Hang them upside down from the overpass, at a height that lets antennas hit them.

Just throw them off the overpass, timed so they miss the cab but not the trailer of a car-carrier

Yeah these stories are nothing new.  Stupidity spans all generations.

Around here drainage pipes span tall ditches (several stories deep).  At the side of each pipe is a large gate-like structure because dumbasses will try to walk across the pipe.

A guy I served in the navy with said they used to light tires on fire around Detroit and roll them down off ramps head on into traffic.

I don't see this as quite as bad since you would see it coming, but that would be an 'oh crap' moment.

I actually came across a 1967 article about the same thing happening near Flint MI. I didn't link it because it was behind a paywall and I could only get to a crappy copy of it.

I remember back in Texas, about 20 or so years ago, they got a couple kids who nailed a female driver by throwing a cinderblock off an overpass. Generally I'm the "meh" type, but this is wanton (not won-ton) assault. I'd say in that case, bury them up to their necks, make sure they'rei mmobile, then release the lawn mowers. Not to kill, mind you, but a little "rehabilitation" maiming.

A couple of kids threw a manikin off of the over pass on Rt 19 south bound in upper saint clair one summer.
Landed right in front of a trucker.
he though he witnessed a suicide and ran the victim over, then had a heart attack, and crashed the truck and eventually died.

I am reliably informed by certain Farkers that those unsightly fences are only needed in urban areas where the dark-colored welfare children live. Upstanding white boys would never do such a thing.
