Welcome to the world of toy collecting. Oh, that awesome figure/set is a San Diego Comic Con exclusive? Well, at least that company puts the leftovers up for sale on their si--oh, look at that, sold out in less than 30 seconds, and I haven't even gotten to the checkout page yet. Aaaaand now it's triple the already insane original price on eBay, making it prohibitively expensive.

This isn't my thing, but Holy 1% Batman - because it sounds like that's who ultimately gets to own them. Pretty sucky.

Came to ask if they used the old tv show Batman and Robin for models, because there was some talk back then about "ambiguous". And Adam West was handsome. I forget Robin's real name.

If it makes you feel better, I assume that 3D printing is going to DECIMATE the market in the next 20 years.

"only on sale at Comic Con"? Check eBay within 30 minutes after the con opens. You're gonna see a crapton of them. All at incredibly high prices, of course.

My Comic Con CSB:

Back around 2001, some dealer was aggressively trying to sell me a pair of Trigun rounded yellow sunglasses, for $300. "You can turn around and sell these on eBay and get at least $600, easy!" he promised.

I said "Well, then why not list them up on eBay yourself and make that easy $600? I certainly don't want to be taking advantage of someone by scamming them of money. That would just be so farked up and wrong."

The scowl that came across his face. The scowl! To this day it makes me feel so warmfuzzy inside.

Nearly pissed myself laughing the first time I saw that cartoon.  Never knew that they were voiced by Colbert and Carell until some farker mentioned it.

I would think sh*t would be a relatively inexpensive thing to collect.  Do you have to pay extra for that sort of thing?

if by "only for sale at ComicCon" you mean, and BigBadToyStore, and Entertainment Earth, and eventually Amazon, Ebay...ETC etc etc...

I have yet to see the "Comic Con Exclusive" that wasn't for sale practically everywhere else within days of Comic Con starting.

LOL. I actually have that second pic in my Fark profile thingy.

Wait, does Spike have a l'il superhero costume in that first pic? Cos that's kind of neat.

The AGD set would be awesome as well but no way am I paying those ridiculously inflated prices.

Far worse are country exclusive releases that require me to use a proxy buying service..

Which goes back to the whole "insanely overpriced" thing. Sure, you can get them outside of the Con. Are you willing to pay, say, $150 for that $60 SDCC exclusive Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett? Or that Indiana Jones Lost Wave set that was $100 at the con? Yeah, that'll be $250. Availability on the secondary market doesn't matter when they're priced out of the range of anyone that doesn't have piles of expendable cash lying around.

dude...most of the stuff they are peddling as "ComicCon Exclusives" I wouldn't bother to wait in line for AT SDCC much less pay a premium for it afterwards. Closest I'd come to that was the "Candidate COBRA Commander" figure from a few years ago, which is supposed to be "rare" but I see it all over the place...and I could have had it for $50 right after SDCC that...but I thought "I'd like one of those for my collection...but I don't want it $50 bad"  especially when I can customize a figure and podium myself and get the same results for about $10
