Campaign season doesn't begin til after labor day. They have plenty of time

Patience.

*sigh*

You morons. You don't need gaffes! Seriously! How hard is it to make an argument that Republicans are bad on the economy, bad on national defense, bad on foreign policy, bad on immigration, bad on women's reproductive rights, and bad on equal rights in general? It's NOT LIKE you don't have enough evidence.

OH! And they think CORPORATIONS are PEOPLE!

Seriously, why are Democrats always so bumfuzzled?!

We need legitimate gaffes. Then the Democrats can shut the whole thing down.

Ask a conservative about rape, or the female reproductive system.

All the material  you will ever need.

I do have to warn you, they may not consider the question legitimate, and try to shut the whole thing down.

Stick to your guns, dont retreat, reload!

Because they're the party of Jesus, and Democrats are secret Muslims, or worse, atheists.

2014-07-14 10:36:33 PM
It's not like democrats actually exploid gaffes republicans make.  They just look up and pretend they didn't hear the crazy person.

Those aren't gaffes, they're actual policies.

I'll let my local Democratic Party groups check out the Fark political tab.

It's got gobs of good GOP FUs over the past few years.

Because the Democrats are just as in bed with lobbyists as the Republicans and are really good at grasping defeat from the jaws of victory (see: 2004)

Just for a couple years, give the Republicans complete unlimited control over the White House and both houses. No Democrats or Independents holding a single seat. After that, their party will not be viable for any elections for the next 100 years.

Of course, I'd like to move out the US before that hypothetical happens. I don't want to be here when the eventual McCarthyism of the American public lends itself to death penalties en masse.

2014-07-14 11:19:25 PM
Aren't the Republicans going to try and shutdown the government one more time? There's T-Bills to be defaulted on and an economy to wreck.

Remember when Republicans were the ones we trusted with economic issues?

2014-07-14 11:23:16 PM
In other words, voters think Democrats' record and agenda ranks just above radioactive sewage, so their only hope is for an error by the other side. I picture Democrats sitting drinking in the dark at night wistfully remembering the talk of a "permanent Democratic majority" from a few short years ago.

2014-07-14 11:25:50 PM
It's early in the season. Up until this point it would be insane for any insane candidate to think that he or she needed to put themselves in front of a hostile microphone. And if you gaffed in front of a friendly microphone, you were probably too dumb to make it through the primary (or your name was Eric Cantor).

According to polls. I'm not dumb enough to trust either party with our economy.

Ugh, no. We did something uncomfortably close to that between 2001 and 2006.

Evidently everyone in charge were RINOs, you see, because Real Republicans™ would never plus the outcome was bad so obviously sabotage, sun was in our eyes, dog ate the homework and furthermore...

That's because Republicans don't make "gaffes." A gaffe is an unintentional error or an accidental mistake, and as Republicans have shown time and again, none of the things that come out of their mouths are unintentional or mistakes. They mean every single word they say.

Huh. I picture Republicans grinning in smug, smug self-satisfaction because they've bought and cheated everything they can because their party is so thoroughly evil that they will never again win elections in a fair contest.

I think it's a side effect of trying to be inclusive. If you want equal rights for everyone, that includes the crazy person whose ideas are terrible and will hurt everyone. If you were inclined to be angry and vindictive as a rule, you probably wouldn't have been in the party in the first place.

It *has* been a long time since a Republican has mentioned something completely asinine about rape. Like...at least a month. That's a really long time for them.

Explain how the GOP in the House thinks it's better to sue Obama than pass jobs, VA, immigration, infrastructure or any other useful bills because they're more interested in making political points than really helping people.  Make sure they're portrayed as the self-serving, stupid, lying hypocritical bastards they are and say it over and over and over until everybody understands just how toxic the GOP is.

But the democrats won't do that.  I don't know why not.

2014-07-15 12:15:57 AM
It's not hard to show how the states currently run by conservatives are failing (hello Brownbackistan!) while also reminding voters how the last venture in conservatism at the federal level turned out.

Bonus: that was what the GOP refered to as "compassionate conservatism".

That happened during the Bush years. Congress was known as a "rubber stamp" until 2006 when Demos rested control of it.

People quickly forgot.

I don't know if it's an American thing or just a People thing, but the public's memory is pretty damn short. They probably won't even remember the government shutdown last year, much less who was responsible.

The mistake is that they say what they believe in front of a microphone.

The difference between a Democrat making a gaffe and a Republican making a gaffe is when the Democratic makes a gaffe, s/he is misspeaking, while when a Republican makes a gaffe, s/he is accidentally telling the truth about what s/he really thinks in public. Case in point:

Noam Chimpsky: Democrats are holding their breath hoping that a Republican will say he's visited 57 states. Oh wait.

is considered a Democrat making a gaffe (and wow, Obama must be the most together person ever if you have to reach back 6 years to find a time when he misspoke/sounded stupid). Where a Republican might say one of many utterly disturbing things about rape.

Landrieu should be able to hold her Senate seat in Louisiana

despite the nearly 1 million dollars the Koch Brothers-owned PAC has spent in Louisiana. As for the races in Kentucky, Colorado, Michigan, Arkansas, Iowa, and North Carolina mentioned in the article, Who knows? If I were willing to gamble, I'd probably lean towards these picks...

LA -Dem
Colorado - Dem
Michigan - Dem
NC- Rep
Kentucky - Rep
Arkansas - Rep
Iowa-Dem

So, I don't see GOP winning back the Senate. I also see them losing more seats during 2016 presidential election year, than any gains they may make in the mid-terms. Granted, my opinion and a dollar (plus applicable sales tax) will buy you some Christmas crap from Dollar Tree. But thanks to Koch Brothers' policies along with their corporate cohorts, more and more Americans are depending on cheap Chinese junk from Dollar Tree to supplement their meager holiday shopping ability.

They are more like sentence enhancers than actual punctuation marks. I just use them when I want to sound fancy. I just sprinkle them through my screeds and tirades to spice things up. And WHAMMO! You got yourself a spicy sentence sandwich!
