So a politician makes claims of poverty to identify with common folk despite actually accumulating wealth? Ric Romero will definitely want the scoop on this one.

This is about as dumb a story as the Obamas ordering lobster at a hotel.

Hard to let convicted rapists out of prison while having a 6 year old kick the back of your seat for 2 hours.

We'll he gained back all the weight he lost, so they were probably charging him for two seats.

It's because he has to pay freight rates to ship his girth.

/is he still fat?

I can't stand when they bury the funny on page 2.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum's PAC, Patriot Voices, has reported just $321 in travel expenses since its creation, evidently not for a private jet.

It's even dumber than that.  When Huckabee ran for president in 2008 (not 2012 like the dumbass submitter said), he was a former minister and governor.  He didn't have any money.  And he didn't charge his campaign contributors for private planes.  Now that he's in the private sector he charges.  That's what people are supposed to do.

Did he raise any stink about Hillary when she did the same lately?

If not - no story here.
If yes - obvious hypocrisy here.

#880: Burying a police investigation regarding his son torturing and killing a pet dog (I wish I was making that up).

I'd guess he's still technically a minister... or that's what he puts on his 1040 now.

Well, after his public endorsement of Atkin's book (he wrote the forward and has been doing publicity events for him), I had the feeling that he's given up national office ambitions and is just switching to standard Republican grifting of right wingers.

Now a Fox News commentator and highly paid public speaker, Huckabee has in just a few years racked up at least $253,000 in private air travel bills on the way to political events, according to a POLITICO review of federal and state campaign finance records.

Holy crap, I don't rack up $253 in air travel most years.

HA and also HA.

According to Dave, Mitt's actually quite a nice fella. Has opinions and thoughts and is a good listener - the whole shmear. (FWIW, people said the same thing about Al Gore - nice guy, good communicator. Funny how everyone starts looking wooden in public when they're campaigning for higher office.)

Anyway, the conversation ended awkwardly when Dave took out the rare-Earth magnets. Something about Mitt having a seizure and scream-singing folk tunes.

// like most people: talk to them one-on-one and they're pleasant folk; get them talking in generalities (or in "if I was in charge" terms), and they're farking insane

As I see it, if you have that much to burn on airfare, fly commercial buying first class tickets. After a few months you'll hit the top medallion status, be able to get free upgrades just about all of the time, and the airline will fulfill just about any insane request you have because you'll be one of their most high value customers.

Huckabee is not a politician any longer. He is a highly paid shill at Fox News and I think he has syndicated radio also. If you have the cash and want to piss away in private jets. Have at it.

At an average of $12,500 per flight, that's ten round trips in "just a few years".  Even if the $12,500 average is for round trip, that's still only 1.8 trips per month over three years.  The dude is on TV, has a radio show and is campaigning for other people.  It's not like he's flying a G5 to the DR with a bag full of Viagra like Limbaugh.  The people in his inner circle are probably wondering "why so little?" when it comes to his private jet usage.
