Well, like his father before him, he may be a sociopath, and his policies if enacted would eventually reduce 95% of us to poverty and utter serfdom, but I try to give credit where it's due-- even for people I utterly detest.

RAND PAUL is no Republican lackey.  He is independent of mind and spirit. He only stands under the Republican banner because it's pretty much impossible to get anywhere politically unless you're part of the national R vs. D duopoly.

And at least in our serfdom under PAUL we'd have plenty of cheap pot, coke, meth, and heroin to keep us amused.

WTF is the deal with harping on Perry's glasses?  There is ABSOLUTELY NO SHORTAGE of things to ding this loathsome excuse for a human being on.  Laughing at his glasses-- well, It's just as empty as making fun of Hillary Clinton's "Pantsuits."

Are we Americans going to start demanding our politicians get laser eye surgery or exclusively wear contacts, or go around effectively blind when in public?

If the asshole needs to see better and doesn't want to mess with contacts, let him wear his farking glasses.  It's not like he picked out a frame that looks silly on him-- Hell, the guy actually looks pretty good.

Unless, of course, there's only window glass in those frames and he's wearing them exclusively as a fashion accessory.  If that turns out to be the case then he deserves MUCH more ridicule than he's getting now.

But I'd need some pretty convincing proof of that first.

/I've zoomed in on several pictures of Perry wearing glasses and haven't been able to make out any refraction effects, so I can't completely rule out the "fashion accessory" theory.

It's because we think he switched to make him look smrt.  We don't think he decided on glasses over contacts or surgery out of convenience.  His politics play to a very shallow constituency, I'm guessing his decision to wear glasses does as well.

That's what I'm seeing too... it looks like Rand Paul just pointed at Rick Perry and called him "four eyes" on the school playground. It's like they aren't even attempting to care what mature adults think of them.

Bah gawd King! I've never seen anything like this!

2014-07-14 01:01:54 PM
Eh, you should make fun of both Perry's "me smart" glasses and Hillary's pantsuits. They're both calculated political decisions meant to imply something to the electorate about the potential candidate. It's all cynical crap anyways, so you may as well have a laugh about dumb yokels thinking that thick-rimmed glasses impart magical non-liberal-academic-elite-but-not-a-city-dwelling- bisexual-hipster powers.

I unseriously biatched about it one time and how I was sure it had caused my link rejection.  Then out of nowhere someone greened another submission of mine.  Coincidence or not, I decided I wouldn't mention it anymore.

I wonder if Perry chews on them -- I keep hearing Jeremy Irons making a "Still trying to butch up by chewing on your glasses, huh?" comment every time I see him these days.

I don't care.  I'm making fun of Rick Perry's glasses.  Rick Perry thinks that Americans are so dumb that we're going to think he's smart because he wears glasses now.  He's probably right.

I thought Hillary's pantsuits were worn because that was the fashion for professional women as far back as the early 90s (if not before). I remember my mom and her friends wearing the hell out of them.

I also remember conservatives biatching because "Women wear skirts! Or dresses! First Ladies wear dresses because their job is to look good! Hillary's either a radical feminazi or a gay!"

But...

Jaden Smith First of His Name: It's all cynical crap anyways

At a certain point, a person is so awful in so many different ways, it becomes easy to assume the worst about the other parts of their lives.  Sure, it's a little intellectually lazy, but it also saves you time and has a low likelihood of being incorrect.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: This meme sucks.

The meme is awesome, it's just poor execution. Rick Perry needed to be beating someone "like a rented Central American Child", for one thing. Also, you have to have the "Bah Gawd", otherwise what's the point?

I tell you what, one way to ensure I vote Democrat next election is for Republicans to nominate Rick Perry for president. He's like a dumber, more awful, less grounded in reality version of George Bush.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

They did it wrong, that is the problem. Since there is no Central American child in the actual story, it makes no sense (and rape jokes are just SO funny, right?). That and they got the meme wrong entirely, too.

It should've been:
"BAH GAWD KING! RAND PAUL WITH A LOW BLOW! THAT DAMN SNAKE! RICK PERRY HAS BEEN BROKEN IN HALF!" or something along those likes

Hence the reason why I estimate the chances of a Republican being elected President to be about five percent.  At this point, it is simply impossible for a single person to both be electable in the general elections and win the Republican primaries.

/80% chance of Hillary
//15% chance of a different Democrat
