Ever since Sandy Koufax, the Dodgers have had some phenomenal pitchers.

Might as well get use out of his arm if he's throwing 97 at 17.  More than likely if they wait for him to learn how to pitch he'll end up blowing out is elbow by the time he's 22.

When it comes to player development: challenge thy hitters and coddle thy pitchers; but when a pitcher appears ready, he's probably ready; when a hitter appears ready, he may not ever be.

Do pitchers still get rotator cuff problems? It used to happen all the time, now I can't remember the last time I heard that phrase used.

"It's the fact that he can barely drive, can't vote, is almost half a decade from a legal beer and could very well pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers next year."

What do those facts really have to do with his pitching ability? There are pitchers who can do all three of those things but suck at pitching.

The Rangers were burning out high school phenoms before it was cool.

On the one hand, I hope he has a fantastic career. On the other, Manny Parra.

Bob Feller, Jimmy Foxx, Mel Ott all played before they were 18. Alex Rodriguez made his debut at 18 years, 11 months. It's not unheard of but the player should be special.

Yep. Pele won the World Cup and scored in the final at age 17. Wayne Rooney was scoring goals for Everton at 16. Get over it, baseball. If he's ready, he's ready. Maybe keep him 75 or under pitches.

Bob Feller still had his senior year of high school to go back to after his rookie season.
