Pretty much this.

She was the only part of the pilot I didn't like, so I'm personally OK with this.

What is with this show? Let's hire a Welsh actor to play English and an English actor to play American. Scratch that. Fire the English actor and hire an American to play English. Brilliant!

I don't mind seeing Griffiths go. To say she was the weakest thing in the pilot is an under statement. I've seen her in other things. And she is pretty decent. I have no idea why she was so incredibly bad in the Constantine pilot. Was it because she was trying so hard to maintain n generic American accent that she couldn't do that and act at the same time?

Having seen the pilot, I can see why they did this. That first girl they had was easy on the eyes but emoted like Keanu Reeves on Valium. Second worst thing about the show.

The worst thing was the editing, which was amateurish enough for me to notice it and I never notice stuff like that.

Too bad they didn't get rid of the guy playing Constantine too.

Dude's acting is as wooden as a nickel

Wait so they made a TV show based on him? Where is the marketing push? Love the character and thought the movie deserved more.

It doesn't come out until October, I'm sure there will be a PR blitz closer to that time.  I'm guessing the above posters who saw the pilot either work in the industry, found it on a torrent site, or saw a sneak preview at one of the Cons.

I watched a crappy web-rip of the pilot and it is promising, although it doesn't seem to be treading any new ground. I think the lead actor may need getting used to longer than usual for many. He's no Keanu as Constantine, that's for sure. Shame about the actress leaving. She was cute. New one better be cute as well.

On HBO's Leftovers, there was a cult that was smoking like it was the end of the world. It really does look disgusting whenever they were on screen. But HBO doesn't give a fark because HBO.

Watched the Pilot, I thought she could eventually be OK, I think she was just written badly. I'll probably watch the show....it's just.....dunno...cant put my finger on it...

Why the hell does Constantine have a female lead?

He's an embittered loner who travels the city fighting demons for hire. Every episode or two should have a new problem and cast, like X Files or Supernatural.

What they don't want is to have a recurring cast in a generic hollywood serial story that putters around in predictable, even cliched, circles going nowhere, like X Files or Supernatural.

It can work.  Just look at the series "Strike Back."  Philip Winchester is an American playing a British soldier, Sullivan Stapleton is an Australian playing an American, Rhashan Stone is an American playing a British Soldier, then some British playing British. If your looking for a solid yet at times ridiculous action series with a nice dose of skinamax, you should give it a try.

I always forget that Andrew Lincoln (http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Andrew_Lincoln his real name is Clutterbuck tee hee) isn't an American. He seems like any other American trying to fake a Joja accent, heck he's better than the American who plays Shane (http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Jon_Bernthal).

Agreed. I know Constantine is supposed to take most of this stuff in stride, but that guy just seemed bored to be there. Not very engaging at all.  The latin chanting to do all the magic wore thing as well. I really liked the use of the tattoos and the more physical magic from the Keanu movie.   I never thought I'd consider the statement that Keanu out-acted someone, but at least he came across as guilt-ridden and downtrodden.

Here's hoping it gets better in revisions!

Yeah sorry but "Constantine" should've been an HBO show and not just for the f-bombs he'd drop almost every episode.

No argument there - despite being a huge Hellblazer fan, I won't be watching the series, because I don't want to see everything dumbed down, gutted, sanitized, altered, and rewritten to make it more palatable to a wide audience. About the only thing I'm happy about here is that, because of the wide audience, some of those folks may go back and actually read the source, so that's good, I guess.

Well, technically needing a replacement for any given non-Constantine Hellblazer character in less than a season  would actually be pretty accurate to how the series worked, especially female characters.

Didn't even the Taxi guy eventually get killed right off?  Hell, I think even Constantine's technically died a couple times, he's just kinda the bad penny of the supernatural world so it doesn't stick very well.

If Hannibal can get away with a man eating his own face on network TV, I doubt it will be sanitized. Now if they make it as another clone of Grimm, then yes your comment is valid.

Same here.  I don't think this is a French co-production like Hannibal so I don't think we'll get anyone fighting the good, gore-y, artistic fight with the networks over this one (other than the showrunner, who has to temper the energy given to that fight with the dozen others he or she likely has to fight every day).

/if you watch Castiel on SPN and squint a little you can get a decent Constantine fix
