This happened again?? Damn, just last week a there was a thread about a stash of iron age coins found in cave in Derbyshire.  Hell, I think it was the same cave and everything.  What are the odds.

Goonies is one movie I would love to see remade for a modern audience. Except Hollywood would f*ck it up and turn it into some idiotic unfunny "comedy" like they did to every good show from my childhood that they touched in the last 20 years. So never mind, I'll dust off my VCR and watch the old one.

The problem is that Chunk would be a pretty skinny kid these days. That, and you can't make fun of mongoloids or fatties anymore.

Honest question, but what about it is so dated it can't appeal to a modern audience?

Maybe it's just me, but that's a film that falls in the 'timeless' category.

True, true. That movie is cringeworthily not PC.

For starters, the Chunk schtick fails because he was a lardass for his day but is average by today's standards. And as Rozinante pointed out, it's not so cool these days to make fun of the special needs kid chained up in the basement.

But it's timeless to me, dammit!

The idea is such heresy I don't even want to look it up to find out whether or not it's true.
