FTA "But where was that mask, man?"

csb
Clayton Moore was a cousin of my dad's. I met him several times when I was a kid. He was an eccentric person to say the least. It is strange that they can't fathom where that mask is considering he never took it off for the rest of his life. He kind of folded the identity of the Lone Ranger into his own identity and the family believes that he actually thought he was the Lone Ranger. He believed that to take the mask off would endanger the mystique that had been built up around this noble hero who children everywhere looked up to and he strove to maintain that role through the rest of his life. He fought a bunch of legal battles to be allowed to wear it and eventually kind of won. These people should know that the mask was buried with him.

the portrayals of native peoples as monosyllabic, red-faced, savages is just an ugly reminder of the revisionist history written by the conquering.  it is generally a disgusting distortion and generalization of thousands of events over hundreds of years, compacted (in this case), the most easily identifiable sub-human greeting - "how."

but subby obviously deserves credit for this headline cuz its f#@king hillarious

Not sure if serious.

Obviously the reason Tonto's outfit didn't sell is because racism.

Obviously also the reason the show was called The Lone Ranger instead of Tonto.

Tonto means stupid in Spanish.

In the Spanish dubbed version, Tonto was called Toro (which is Spanish for lawnmower)

Men, like yourself, thrive on the continuance of violence, segregation, and disease. But now the Messiah has returned, all is pure, and you're in the shiathouse

/then I'll make trouble

Lone Ranger outfit sells for $195,000.  Otherwise known as 10% of how much money the movie made.

So one day The Lone Ranger gallops into town on Silver, Silver all lathered up from the long ride. The Lone Ranger goes up to Tonto and asks him to run around Silver, creating a breeze, to cool him down. Tonto being the faithful servant starts burning circles. Meanwhile the Lone Ranger heads into the salon. After a bit a time another cowboy comes up to the Lone Ranger and says, "Is that your big white horse out there?" The Lone Ranger tells the guy yes and the cowboy says, "well you better get out there cause you left your injun running."
